Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
2x new DPS classes, enjoy your DPS queues boys. Never been more glad to be a tank.
"Why did Doma fall to the Garleans?"
"Because they had no tanks or healers!" For anyone looking for fanfest info here is a live reddit feed.
Not sure if old news (usually Drac posts those the sec they're out):

YouTube Video Placeholder YouTube Video Placeholder I still have harsh things to say about this game, but I've been told now it's not the time to do so cause people's hype is too strong.
Was talking to Seha about this, it really bothers me that itemization in XIV is so lame. I think things like set effects and relic weapons/raid weapons getting added effects would help tremendously in making getting multiple different kinds of gear/weapons or playing around with different things that you normally wouldn't bother getting would be really cool.
Set effects would encourage you to gather full sets instead of mishmash, or go for mix and match to increase base stats if that's what you prefer. For example... A full set of Shire gear could give you a 5% chance to recover HP when you get attacked. A full set of Alexandrian gear could give you a 10% chance to receive a 10% damage buff for 5 seconds when you use a combo finisher or other abilities. Weapon procs/abilities would give you more reason to go after different weapons or perhaps breathe life into different types of weapons. A Shire Bhuj might enhance your self healing abilities by 25%. An Alexandrian Metal Axe could give you a 5% chance to evoke a beam of light that deals additional damage to the enemy when you use a skill that spends Defiance stacks. A Zurvanite Axe could have a 20% chance to deal double auto attack damage. Relic could add a 10% crit buff to Berserk. Things that add additional value or flavor to weapons. Doesn't necessarily have to be on all weapons, could just be relics. Relics are generally kept a step behind the current top tier anyway, so the whole "Relics would be the best thing ever and you'd never use anything else" excuse could easily go out the window if the added effects merely have the potential bridge the gap between a current top tier weapon and the "gimp" relic weapon. Additionally, keep the relic weapon upgrade process the same as it currently is, and add an extra step after it is fully upgraded for that current patch: a drop from the current raid that, when added to the weapon, adds/strengthens its bonus proc/ability. That way, the "casuals" still have their weapon without any power loss while people who have raid experience and can consistently get to the end and farm the raid weapons have an alternative or flavor weapon by augmenting their relic. I really don't understand the inhibition when it comes to these types of systems. Dumbing down XIV's itemization and stat "complexity" doesn't really do much aside from coddle people who don't want to put an ounce of thought into their gear decisions and remove player choice. It would be neat to see but at the end of the day it wouldn't change anything without changing a lot of other things about the game.
FFXIV is a game that revolves around damage, it's current state more so than ever. Whatever they did there would still be an option, be it a full set or mixed, that produces more damage and that would be the best option. You could chose to use others, but you are still choosing a weaker option at that point. Since fights are designed like clockwork minus phase pushes healing can be planned down to the bare minimum which makes random little buffs to healing or mitigation not really do anything since it will just end up as over or unnecessary cures. XI wasn't much different, there were a lot of side pieces to get on the way but for every gear set you needed to make there was a best configuration. At the end of the day there will always be a best set, variety is nice to see but when you break it down it's just fluff and an illusion of choice. There are many many things I would rather see them work on first personally. While I would agree that adding cool effects to weapons would be neato, in the end x will still be better then y and that is all that will matter.
Also these types of bonuses can cause huge problems, an example from WoW as that has these types of set bonuses was T7?(The set from Nax in WotLK) Druid armor. The added effect on that item was so strong that druids couldn't replace any of it for 2 tiers of content. While XIV has new content every 3/4 months or so WoW was on a like 5/6 month content rotation at the time so imagine not getting any gear upgrades for a year and still having to go to raids 3/4 nights every week. Eventually it got to the point where they just removed set bonuses and procs from older items all together so people would only be able to use newer things. Adding procs to weapons and armor just adds complexity that isn't needed and can be hugely detrimental. I'm not saying it isn't possible to make work, I'm just saying it would take more work then it is actually worth. You won't even really notice a difference. I'm more hyped for RDM and Yugiri.
Ohh, Yugiri...mai waifu. Offline

When you spend time hanging out at a laundromat waiting for clothes to dry you've made some poor decisions in your life.
