I'm speaking generally not for us uber nerds...desktop sales are on the decline outside of pc gaming of course.

I've talked to the general public and they still prefer ipads and smart phones over desktops.
asides from monitor weight, PC Tower weight as been constant trough out the years more or less.
Vid card, Case, PSU, HDDs, Cooling Units.
I dont think PC "Gaming" components have gone down in weight.

Eventually video cards will be so big you will have to have devote a small room to contain them...
I have a huge chunky desktop, but it has a handle so I can lift it, its like a bag but with games in it :)

That's what the average consumer and business wants. With today's technology it doesn't take very much to satisfy their demands.
High end gaming along with professional rendering rigs are still niche. Though they are the sectors that drive the technological advancements that benefit everyone.
