.38 +P is between .38 Special and .357 Magnum. With the weight of a 5.5"-ish SAA clone, you'll be fine. People kinda overhype .357 mag recoil imo but I'm a recoil junkie so take that how you will.

Stay away from .45 Colt +P, if you go for .45, they aren't built to fired those regularly.

Crowe's gun isn't a SAA there, it's a Colt 1871/72 (Uberti 1871/72 "Open Top") They were a flop for Colt because they were intended to capitalize on use of the .44 Henry cartridge but Winchester came out with the 1873 in .44-40 which kinda changed the game. Same year, Colt came out with the Colt 1873 Single Action Army in .45 Colt which kinda took off and overshadowed the old open top.

The SAA was later offered in .44-40 WCF to pair with the Winchester rifle for civilian use.

My Uberti is a clone of a Smith & Wesson Model 3 1875, modernized to chamber .45 Colt.
