i can do one handed control with the turbo pretty easily. it's not too big, but then again i have an s6 edge +. you could always go with the maxx 2. it's screen isn't as strong but it's shatter resistant and has a guarantee on the screen if it does crack.

Not as smart phones on the latter two but still.
...not Apple, my brother has a 5, niece has a 6, and my sister has a 6S+ and they just feel breakable to me. On top of that there's the Lightning charger. No joke, a week after my niece got her first 5 (she goes through phones like toilet paper) her charger was "not supported." This charger came with it from the factory.
Apple got too greedy with the "screw aftermarket!" stuff.
EDIT: Anything bearing the name Lightning that doesn't fall from the sky is probably bad.

No, no. The charger, if that's what you are talking about, was fine and the phone wasn't abused, dropped, or anything. Apple occasionally obsoletes aftermarket chargers, but they also obsoleted their own chargers in the process on one occasion.

Honestly, I had no reason to upgrade to an Apple iPhone after my 4S, Lightning chargers and their compatibility chip were just a reason for me NOT to. Apple phones seem to pretty much reinvent the wheel over and over again. They gain small features with every update that I never used. Siri was fun to mess with but I had no real use for it. I've had Cortana since its Android beta version but don't have much use for it. To top it off, you couldn't remove factory bloatware like Stocks or that travel-payment thing...or the newsstand. You can remove and reinstall such apps at will on Android. If you use Apple phones, you are probably a bad person. :)

I've never had an issue with my Samsung S4 Mini.
Plus I know way to many abuses for Iphone users that MOST of my family hate me.
<- Locked people from using Safari.

<- Perma Locked someones phone to see if it actually worked.

I think my biggest issue with Mac and iPhone users is really that they think their phones and products are hack proof and virus proof and that they are industry standard (when they aren't in almost all cases at all).
That's why with family I troll them from now and again with links or small data lines on skype or Facebook that'll lock them out or crash there software or whatever. (Especially when they say they have top of the market stuff when the cheapest pc my my house will out spec most macs)
Just overpriced scam most of it sadly. -,-.

Also, I've never experienced the issues Rooks mentioned; phone not working and updates being a pain.
