So my niece is upset because her dad wont let her mail fanart to this couple who makes videos on youtube. Literally all they do is play with toys and record it and then ask for fan mail at the end. They both look mid 40's... its just creepy, man. The worst part is she'd rather watch them play with toys instead of playing with actual toys. What a world we live in.

Compared to some ***I've seen here, that seems almost normal.

My grand-nephew watches videos like that on kid YouTube but it's unboxing/ad videos sponsored by the company that makes the toy.

I have to say I 'think' it's just a generic pamphlet they sent me, but the wording in it is really strongly worded as if they're trying to set you up now that you have been accepted.

Reminds me of the kids watching other people play video games, and not like skilled people. My cousin's daughter loves to watch people build piles of nothing on Minecraft. She plays Minecraft too, but more often than not, she's watching someone else play it badly.

I mean, watching the Superbowl is one thing. Watching some random badly-throw a football to some guy who doesn't know how to catch a football is a whole different thing.

Vicarious escapism is a weird thing.
Perhaps you could encourage her to do more for herself in terms of creative inspiration and value?
