The text looks big in battles because it's for smartphones too. Might be an option for that
There's a rumor that the reason it took so long to port along with the price is because they lost the original source code and had to remake it.
On a similar note, I'm about 22 hours or just at the part where you can get Asura and Leviathan in FFIV on the DS version ported to PC on Steam and I've got to say I'm finding the game more enjoyable than I initially thought it would be.
Granted this is the 4th incarnation of IV I've played so that's also a huge factor, but one Cecil becomes a paladin the graphics are much more tolerable. If only Kain's character looked better, I dare say the 3D graphics aren't that bad at all. The voice acting doesn't bother me at all. The whole augment and auto-battle system is kinda neat. Yang... well eh... he's still ok, after I got used to the initial shock of how they redesigned him. I'm definitely looking forward to playing III, V, and VI that I purchased while on sale during X-Mas as well. I briefly played VI up until the point you reach the world map and the only thing that I can see as a downside is how the battle timer is set up, but this type of port was done for mobiles (iOS and such). Either way I'm just glad they're releasing all the Final Fantasies on PC without using an emulator (even though I used to be really big into emulation). I'm kinda mixed between just releasing the games as is or touching up the graphics and adding a few adjustments here and there. If done right, it works. I'm actually considering a 2nd play through of IV too, lol. I still wanna know why the file size is that large. 20 gb for an hd port is a bit much.

They deleted the assets for 1-9 or lost them, I don't think they ever thought they'd be remastering the games. Initially I was going to do 4 then 6, but now that I'm used to the graphics anything is possible, lol. Bismarck.Magnuss said: » Bloodrose said: » Of Mice and Men was by far a better story. I saw the old B&W film, and the reboot done years ago with Gary Sinise and John Malkovich. I should try and find both of them for dvd/blu ray if possible For now I wait until these things go on sale and no more than $10, especially for something like 12 and 13 where the battle system significantly changes just to give it a go, however...
I would definitely pay full price, like $40-$50 for a Chrono Cross remake. Hell, I would pay top dollar for a Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross remake (remastered or w/e the term is for not changing the story and game play) for the PC. That's got to be pushing the limits of what SE does, but who knows, if there is enough of a demand for that, it could happen. 12 is a LOT of fun when it comes to exploration and battles (and hunts), it just falls behind storywise a bit since the guy left in the middle of it
Remastered Chrono Trigger would probably get the ugly iOS type sprites though

Maybe, but if they put in the effort for something decent, I think they could find a decent balance to make a good return.
Perhaps I'm wrong on how popular Chrono Trigger still is, but I'd rather take an adjustment to the battle system in Trigger to lure in a new generation of players to keep Chrono Cross intact. Like something a bit more interactive in the battle system for Chrono Trigger, but not too much, lol. Feels like hostage negotiations now. |
