Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?

I figure it's a matter of give and take. You'd obviously be butchering more extensive and detailed gameplay features by cutting out the third dimension, but something about it gives a very familiar and content feeling. But there's obviously virtues and shortcomings to either style.

Maybe it's because of my age... But as cool as it is to see 2d concepts of more current games it's not all that fascinating to me nore does it reach out to me as something I feel like seeing a lot of. .-.

You'd have to change a lot of mechanics, they'd be basically entirely different games, short of the story. It'd be cool, but I'd rather see them invest the time/money to make something new and not crap. Now if an indie person wanted to do it all-out, let them. You'll get mobile versions of everything and you'll
I guess I'm only asking because I see a lot of modern games address things by going balls-to-the-wall on graphics and realism with their budgets and often ignore art direction, which can have unfortunate (and sometimes brown) consequences.
Though, sometimes that pale color palette can be fitting for certain scenarios and genres. I'm going to do my best not to be hyper-critical about it. Sure it's ultimately going to be a shitty watered-down mobile game that cashes in on the universe that I've been enjoying for over a decade. But damn it, they actually were willing to extend the universe into another title outside those silly mash-up crossover titles. (Not that I don't enjoy those too but; you know what I mean.) To be fair, FFRK is enjoyable. Mostly I guess if not for anything but the grind.
Wave 6 of the Amiibos are starting to pop up.
Falco is currently available for Pre-order at Best Buy. Oddly enough you can only order it for in-store pick up instead of just straight to your home. I guess I'm an old fart with nostalgia glasses as much as I hate to admit it; so seeing beloved games remastered, remixed, or put into a different perspective or light is wonderfully refreshing to me.
(This explains why I've been knee deep into the OC remix lately, when I've previously took the purist route and shunned all those cool arrangements) But I certainly see how it can be a stale sense of direction for games in general. We should always pursue unique IPs and art directions. I'd enjoy it for nostalgia purposes, and even as a side bit, but I'd prefer them to spend development money on at least new stories.
Sadly, I've spent too much time on that game not to be overly critical.
GM just... Doesn't look or feel right. I understand the limits of the devices it's using, I see no problem with trying to change the gameplay to be something actually playable in a mobile setting but the world... It just... I don't see nostalgia in it like so many other people are telling me they feel. For some weird reason it just looks foreign and I don't know how else I wanna explain it, I just can't see how people are feeling the kind of nostalgia or good feelings from that game that have been described to me over the last week. ... Maybe I'm just looking at it the wrong way. Shiva.Spathaian said: » Sadly, I've spent too much time on that game not to be overly critical. GM just... Doesn't look or feel right. Playing and enjoying FFXI as long as any of us have, GM rearranging the assets of FFXI and delivering it on a totally different platform would certainly divide perspectives and objectivity over it. On an unrelated note, I think I'm gonna make a new thread asking what everyone their favorite guilty pleasure game is~
I certainly know what mine is Guilty pleasure is one of those things I have no idea how they are defined.

It's difficult to articulate, but simply put, it's something you have an unspoken sense of enjoyment for, but would not make note of publically either out of fear of perception from others, or simply finding enjoyment in something that is contrary to your general sense of taste. Quote: A guilty pleasure is something, such as a movie, a television program or a piece of music, that one enjoys despite feeling that it is not generally held in high regard. Like me enjoying the Schumacher Batman movies. Can't think of any game off the top of my head though. Jetackuu said: » To be fair, FFRK is enjoyable. Mostly I guess if not for anything but the grind. All that delicious Mythril will keep me going though... Need to get that Organics when the Cloud/Barret event hits. The things I like I'm not ashamed of liking them..in whichever area.

I always thought of guilty pleasures as one of those things you kind of hide from the world because it may not be widely accepted or a well conceived thing to derive pleasure from sometimes it's just something unexpected for your appearance or character(like maybe you normally hate country music with a passion but there's that one song, cd or artist that is just amazing to you). But then I see people post things that are perfectly normal or widely enjoyed and I suddenly feel completely confused. |
