Yeah now that you think about it, even if you "Support the industry" the old gen consoles and games are no longer produced in terms of their original forms. You wouldn't be supporting the industry, you'd be supporting some scalper on Ebay who thinks his copy of Ocarina of Time or even the ET game from the 1980's is a golden egg or something. It has everything to do with supporting the industry. Remember the whole Napster thing with Lars Ulrich? Same concept. On top of that, I like to be able to physically hold what I buy. It's all a personal preference and your misguided attitude about it doesn't change that fact. YouTube Video Placeholder Woo! I get a tiny bonus because I played the first Battle Operation for like a week! \('~')/ Also, HGCE Freedom was released today~ Now to wait for HLJ to send me a payment request... It's all a personal preference and your misguided attitude about it doesn't change that fact. Exactly how is it different? Everything in my stash that I have bought over the years was bought brand new when its platform was current, thus "supporting the industry". I don't buy anything secondhand, as I want to be the item's first owner and also want to give its creators their due. I don't want to support some random dude out their that wants to make a few bucks. I don't collect for the sake of having a hoard to sell some day. I collect what I personally want to play. Games. I don't chase after Special Editions, posters, standees, figures, limited release controllers, etc. Just games and what's necessary to play them. The way I do my gaming, I want to be able to actually hold what it is I bought. I have had conversations about it with LS mates as well. I like physical media and don't like the download revolution that's sweeping gaming right now. I like to have an actually cartridge/disc and manual. I also don't import. I want to be able to enjoy what I play, and since I only speak English and some spanish, importing is pointless to my gaming habits. The one exception I ever made to this was when I bought an import copy of Rondo of Blood, which at the time, was the best CastleVania game, as it never saw foreign release until many years later on PSP. And what exactly was the point of the insult? Did I come at you personally? No. If what I said in pointing out my support of the industry offended you indirectly, its because it struck a nerve. You weren't insulted.
Valefor.Sehachan said: » You weren't insulted. He edited his post. It originally said "smug, misguided attitude". Smug and misguided aren't insults...
Last I checked, use of the term smug often meant that person is insinuating that the person it is being used for has a sense of arrogance about them. Calling someone arrogant is an insult, particularly when the two people have a differing opinion of something.
On that note, how is professing that I hold enough respect for an industry to give them my money arrogant? How is giving them that money in the hopes that it motivates them to continue arrogant? Valefor.Sehachan said: » Smug and misguided aren't insults... Quote: smug sməɡ/ adjective having or showing an excessive pride in oneself or one's achievements. "he was feeling smug after his win" Quote: mis·guid·ed ˌmisˈɡīdəd/ adjective having or showing faulty judgment or reasoning. "misguided attempts to promote political correctness" Both are negative, therefore insults. *rolls eyes* whatever, enjoy your argument

Unfortunately you can't change something that is already established. If the word holds a negative trait, you can use it as an insult. "You are foolish and misguided" "You smug son of a ***" These are common uses of the words, and they're both insults in society. However I know you'll plug your fingers into your ears and go "I'm right and you're wrong" so might as well move along Seha. Namecalling, belittling, and/or direct derogatory words towards an individual is considered insulting.
If you feel insulted because someone thinks that your opinion isn't appropriate but you feel that not wrong about it, then that's something you have to deal with. Although, I will say that its not insulting as it's not attacking you but what you are saying. Sure if you add son of a ***.
An insult is a hostile word used with the intent of causing offense on a person or ideology. edit: can be an action too So I finally got around to watching days of future past again in some decent quality (first watch was a really poor cam awhile back).
The escape scene is still amusing. Valefor.Sehachan said: » Sure if you add son of a ***. An insult is a hostile word used with the intent of causing offense on a person or ideology. Yes like how I could say a certain person's thinking or way of life is misguided, or their personality overall is smug and arrogant. It's an insult. No word can be an insult in itself, it is how it's used.
You are misguided about this topic is not an insult, it's the expression of someone telling you they think you're wrong about something. I am not arguing.
Then it shouldn't be hard for you to stop.
Stop from what? I'm discussing a topic of communication.
Just stop.
