My employer set me to negative 7 hours of paid time off this week. I had 1 hour on the books and then called in sick so they set em negative.
Legal in NY, but our employee handbook clearly states that we don't do negative time, that anything over what you have is just unpaid. I pointed that out and the reaction was kind of "holy ***, someone actually read that thing?"
Of course I did. I need to know what the policies are in case I ever decide to breastfeed while at work.
