So once I get FFXI installed, what is the first thing I should do ? I only really just started on the adoulin stuff, and I have mainly 75-aby era gear.

i'm reading this thing that they put up for old time players coming back, seems like quite a bit has been added since I left.
I'll have to work up to that I suppose, I barely have the gear probably to do anything, and my jobs are probably not what is wanted or needed (and I'll have to figure out what a col reive is...) :p
I would be tempted to transfer servers if I committed to staying for a little while after the free thing, but eh ...

I have to read up on what's this 'SU' part for gear. There's some stuff I can't equip (I am guessing, I didn't buy the gear yet).
But oh well, I have to run out and get some grocery shopping done before Blackhawks game. It was nice to run around a bit in FFXI but really I don't want to devote alot of time into something that I may only be playing a few days.

look at your job points list and then go left/right to see gifts and there you can see when/if you can wear SUPERIOR1/2 equipment
most of that SU gear sucks anyways I really wouldnt worry about them

There are quite a few plots left over on Behemoth in the Glade. There are a few wards with more than 4 empty plots. Not sure about the other two areas.
Mist/Goblet houses were gone within like an hour except for a few large/medium houses, Lavender Beds took a little bit longer but we haven't had free plots for a really long time
I'm perfectly content with my FC room, i'm broke as it is anyway, I don't need a house to fuss with (and i'm broke... so I couldn't afford one :p)

Certain times of the day the servers are open. It just depends on how many are logged on at the time.

I think what he means is different styles of housing maybe? Like not just the few options you have, but actually build it to how you like?
I'd have just bought a piece of land and tossed a box on the lawn.
