Have you guys never played Sim City? You don't build the city for peace and harmony, you do it to watch it be destroyed. Same with the Sims, you play it because you can delete a door and watch them lose their minds.

I played it to build a sprawling city, ruled by myself and my appointed representatives. The masses paid tribute to me regularly.

Hell, in Cossacks, if I'm ever about to lose anything to an enemy, I set it on fire just before their troops capture it.
Some buildings explode right away though, so I use them more like landmines and blow them up once the troops get near enough to be hit by shrapnel. :I
I also occasionally capture everything from one enemy and then blow it all up with all their peasants nearby, erasing their country from the map entirely. /evilgenius
