There's dialects from that region that differ from other spanish speaking countries, but most wouldn't recognize it unless they were around multiple multiple people from different areas.

I guess I just never heard too many other people speak spanish.

But I have noticed my apparent invisibility to cops, but I do get followed in department stores xD
