I once crashed a computer and the Blackboard network on the first floor of the main building by copy and pasting the name Robert Vojack over and over in Microsoft Word for upwards of 28,000 pages, then saving to a file simply called "Robert Vojack" and then copying the document till it was several gigs then sending it to the teacher through Blackboard. The name came from the poster on the wall behind me, that computer was never used again for the remainder of the year, nor was Blackboard.
EDIT: I think it was actually over 200,000 pages. It was A LOT of copy and pasting.

I once went through all the computers in the Video Editing class and changed all the home screen icon labels to "Floppy John was here." It became a kind of Kilroy-esque joke that a few of us would put in random places with no explanation as to how it got there or who put it there. They had to move a broken soda machine one time and behind it on the wall in brown marker, "Floppy John was here." even I have no idea how it got there.

That's odd, and it doesn't make sense to crash blackboard for only one section, blackboard is usually hosted offsite, and not limited based on just that localized network, unless it blocked the router/switch that it came from, but still unlikely.

It's possible something happened that was a coincidence. Either way, it went down and the computer guy didn't know how to fix it and we never used it again.

Blackboard? or the computer? Yeah. It was a program that was installed and used to send computer projects to the teacher's computer for grading.
EDIT: Both, and yeah, he was odd.

Well that isn't too difficult, there's been software for that for over a decade. I wonder, I mean it's possible to make a network ran bit look like it were a local install, we were doing it to bypass the fact that the one program was being run on another domain and they didn't want to make a domain trust.

Ours looked very primitive, there were no tests in blackboard, it was basically just a program that sent files to her computer via the LAN, you'd boot up the program and sign in and choose to send a file to the admin PC, you could receive comments from the admin (teacher), and you had a chart that shows your grade which she never seemed to use. I don't think it ever actually connected to the internet. You can also share files via LAN by putting said files in a shared location. That was how we maintained multi-day projects with no seating chart...it was in everyone's best interest to get a flash drive though.

I remember one day in my networking class... some guys from IT came into our room and took over a few computers saying they were trying to pin down some kid doing 'bad' stuff in the computer lab right next door (it was through a door adjacent to ours)
Long story short.... he got busted jerking it to some nasty porn.

This is why you static set IPs, so you know exactly which computer is doing what. Also: define "nasty porn."

*hides under bed* She's also crazy in a funny way. If I wake up and my S.O. is talking to her shoes, I know it's going to be an entertaining day.

This is a thread that I found on another website I post at. It can be really really interesting. I thought it deserved a place here.
Post your random thoughts for the day here, or anything else that intrigues you.
For starters, is it possible to give constructive critism to someone who doesn't have a neck? I totally just walked by a girl who didn't. Someone isn't getting a necklace for Valentines day!
And who decided black and white can't be colors? I want to say a racist. I really do.
