Sometimes I read ***on Reddit and see that a simple post is downvoted for no reason whatsoever. I wonder what Reddit would be like without that karma ***. Less tryhards trying to be clever for karma, less attention/karma whoring, etc.

I like reading Reddit but if you really look at the karma system, Reddit sucks. I've also noticed that if someone says something about the karma system, they are downvoted. I doubt they actually LIKE the karma system, they just like abusing it.

So yeah, Reddit is interesting to read but it sucks ***. A point system such as karma leads to prejudice among the userbase and in some cases discourages users from being themselves in fear of being rated down thus encourages dishonest posting for points which is whoring. There are also the cases as above when people are rated down for no reason or due to bandwagon ratedowns.

It would probably be a lot like what the FFXIAH forums would be like if the mods stopped showing an insane combination of favoritism mixed with apathy with dashes of not moderating while making random forum posts instead for several hours at a time.

I don't use reddit, but I remember when ffxiah had the good ol' [-]. Even here it was mainly used as a tool for trolls.

By all means I think some people deserve the flak they get for stupid ***involving imaginary internet points. Some people gotta win at everything, they even feel the need to try to win at being stupid.

Nah, the [-] just showed a negative number, they didn't hide posts in themselves, but three reports would hide a post. Reporting was an option after [-]'ing. On Reddit, rating down pushes posts to the bottom where rating up pushes to the top, thus conveying an opinion that doesn't coincide with that of the majority means your opinion isn't heard at all; kinda like voting in Oklahoma. ^.^
