My main point would be: who really takes "game journalism" seriously at all? much less Kotaku?

It perpetuates a culture that I find disgusting, and is destroying the best part of games, but that's just my take, and they've been doing it for a long time.

Gamergate is a type of ant!

Meh, the main gist of Gamergate is that a female indie game developer made a depression sim, I haven't played it so I have no opinion of it but I've read it isn't that great. This dev allegedly slept with several (5) bloggers who gave her good reviews in return. This was made public when an angry ex-boyfriend posted these allegations on his blog. After this came out, several statements were made on various sites which were removed by administration of said sites. After various hair-brained schemes from this dev such as doxxing herself with false information and trying to blame 4chan's /v/ she began using DMCA take down requests on ANYTHING she could have removed using that an excuse. Several sites such as Reddit, Kotaku, and even 4chan have begun mass censorship campaigns which leads the situation to the Streisand effect.

This dev previously participated in a female gamer game jam, a contest in which a female dev would submit a game, have it voted on and win a cash prize of which they got 8-10% and the rest was donated to a charity of the winner's choice, the aim was to donate to charity, bring light to female game developers wanting to get into the biz, and encourage gender equality in gaming. The dev mentioned before didn't like this 8-10% idea and petitioned against it, rallied a boycott and ruined the game jam. This cause was donated to by 4chan's /v/ who did it to prove that they aren't really misogynistic ***. They donated enough to be allowed to design and name a character to be put in a future game and thus Vivian James was born. /v/ also got to choose a charity to donate to, they chose a colon cancer research charity to "chemo butthurt."

All this lead to several things; feminist outrage (in the dev's favor), mass censorship, and most importantly as far as "#gamergate" is concerned; journalistic integrity in regards to the gaming industry.

It's more than that; the "feminists" are more-or-less hurting the cause of actual feminism, not by much in the grand scheme of things but the damage is there. Most actual feminists disapprove of her actions.

The aforementioned "guys" are males and females who disapprove of her actions in one way or another not so much because she cheated but because she manipulated male gaming journalists and bloggers to push a game that they feel really isn't that great, *** shaming is just their way of showing disapproval and their intentions were lost in doing so.

Look at it this way; say you are looking for a restaurant on a foodie site and one of the bloggers posts a long blog going on and on about how great Bistro A's soups are when Bistro B's across the street are much better. Well, turns out that blogger is sleeping with the owner of Bistro A and thus isn't neutral nor objective in his opinion so upon his recommendation you spent your money on a lower quality soup when the soup across the street is the same price and much better; none of that tofu ***.

It's about pushing and recommending a product due to bribery or influence and not giving a fair review as a result.

Get a different ISP, or use a proxy/encrypt your traffic.

honestly, I don't give a rats *** about that, there's no such thing as journalistic integrity in today's world, and the concept of gaming journalists disgust me in the first place, they could all burn and the world would be better off.

Glad this cuntwaffle is getting put in her place though, unfortunately it won't last long...
