For low rank Blademaster armour sets, I recommend Jaggi for the atk+. It should be enough to last you until high rank, but if you want to upgrade in LR still, the Volvidon set is the next step.
Unless you need poison immunity because you can't git gud at dodging, then you need Wroggi set.
I have no idea about Gunner sets.
Also, don't forget to look up what weapon you want. Try out all the types, find out which gameplay you prefer, then look at this list:

and decide which upgrade paths you wanna take so you don't end up wasting time and materials on a weapon you don't like the end result of. ^^;
Sets before HR I find a little moot and I've always suggested a Barroth set until they hit High Rank at which point evasion becomes much more important as does the start of specializing your armor to fit your weapons.
Also something to keep in mind, make multiple elements of whatever weaponry or you prefer, as until you hit G-rank and get the easy mode "everything is weak to dragon" monsters it will really help your kill speed.
