It's set very, very far into the future of the Universal Century, but before the Turn A and Turn X destroy everything using the Moonlight Butterfly, so basic knowledge of stuff like Minovsky Particles, the endless waves of wars and colony drops are probably all that'll be needed, though they'll likely get explained anyway since they're a big part of why Earth is so *** up in G-Reco.
