While the extreme body mods are not my particular cup of tea, I do have tattoos that are coverable by business casual+ dress levels and plan on many more.

I generally find the societal judgment of those with such modifications distasteful. We consider plastic surgery okay and frankly I think a lot of that turns out hiddeous, including many breast augmentations that make women look more like they've got two basketballs glued to their chest than anything that even resembles a naturally large breast.

While I consider it poor judgment on this gentleman's part to get such extreme modifications in the society in which we live, I also consider it a failing of society for judging people on appearance, and not upon the work of which they are capable or not.

...that said, the quote is probably on a random photo and the complaint is not attributable to the gentleman pictured, but hey.

A lot of this picture has gone beyond anything tasteful, and could be considered a disruption by other employees, and given some of the body modifications, detrimental to the image being portrayed by the places of application.

More so, the issue becomes where one applies, how one applies for a job, and the type of resume they send in. Part of being a professional, is looking professional, to give the customer a comforting image, in where to spend their money.

Going into an interview looking like a demon hell spawn (aside from the tattoos seen, which I found to be pretty nice and artistically done) is no different than going into an interview looking like a shabby hobo. Regardless of credentials, work ethic, or anything in paper.

You also admit that you still keep a professional to semi-professional look by keeping them in areas that can be covered by casual and/or dress attire.

I seriously don't disagree about the basketballs glued to a lamp post, or those who opt to have Botox injected into their lips for the ultimate "Duck Face" lips.
