Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
When I think of oil tycoons, I can't help but think of this:

Must be lonely to travel so long distance/time alone. I couldn't help but entertain his quires/small talk for a time lol Don't get me wrong though, traveling with one or two others is still nice. YouTube Video Placeholder Happened again; browsing Reddit and I find myself annoyed. When I do random searches, I often get results from r/amiugly. How I get to r/amiugly from searching 'Mustang', 'homebrewing', 'Willys Jeep', etc. I have no idea. So occasionally "Meh, why the hell not? *click* No, s/he's not ugly. *backspace*"
So I finally decided to look r/amiugly up, started looking. Maybe I just find likable things in all these people but no one in there is legitimately ugly, maybe there's a chubby girl or a guy with glasses and a bit of acne, neither of those instantly mean ugly. I'm not sure if these people are posting to fish for complements or if they have legit insecurities. >.> Not sure what to do...
Play either Insurgency, League of Legends or continue watching Rosario+Vampire Rosario + Vampire.

A weak mind will rely on something spiritual like a crutch instead of getting stronger and it's just enabling weakness /sigh Imagine if you saw someone telling people to give up on their bodies and just getting pre-emptive liver transplants instead of exercising daily and watching your alcoholic intake. That weakness enabling is how I see most spiritual leaders. You walked in on Josi having oral mind sex. Because he just blew your mind.
So was talking to one of the flight nurses at work last night about stuff we waste money on (her and her husband just bought a house, my wife just got a new car). Anyway, she knows I like audio stuff and was asking about my home headphone rig (her husband likes audio stuff too), she finally got around to how much I spend on that stuff.
I totally blew her mind when she found out my headphones alone are worth $500 and I spent $200 on a rectifier tube for my new amp. She asked how I get away spending that much money, I think for the first time I have ever given good marital advice. Separate bank accounts. As long as bills get paid and money goes into savings, I don't give a ***what my wife buys and vice versa. She still *** about some of the stuff I buy from time to time, but my bills are always on time and money always goes into savings. On that note, I still need a new DAC... but I never understood the need to spend so much money on a pair of headphones or sunglasses. I have a pair of 5 dollar headphones and a 10 dollar pair of sunglasses that do the same things for me. I guess it's all a matter of taste or preference, but I guess to me that's just a waste.
Maybe that might also be because I've never been in a situation where I have more money than I know what to do with. I'm so used to tightening the belt and finding pleasure in things that cost less than 20 bucks. Try telling that to Allison Redford and her daughter.
Or Sarah Palin and her family. Or... any politician spending on the people's dime. Bismarck.Josiahfk said: » *hands spath some rock star:punched and watermelon vodka* Don't worry. Offline
I spent $140 on my first pair of decent headphones mostly cause of the extended warranty. I replaced them twice because of a defect at the jack, 90 degree elbow had a tendency to break. After the second time bose changed the design and the third pair I still have 5 years later.
Sometimes its a matter of quality. The prices may be justified by workmanship. Is that the case with those Dre Beats I keep seeing all over the place?

Bose isn't exactly a propagator of workmanship, and have costly warrantees, mostly to keep their employees, well, employed. Honestly, I've found some of the not-so-well known brand names to be just as good, or even better than most of the brand names I've tried, and have lasted much longer. It isn't people flaunting money pretending to hear more from expensive stuff, high end audio gear makes a noticeable difference. Most people tend to prefer an open and slightly bright sound (where I started in my audio journey), but I ended up liking a high amount of detail, warmer and more dark tones (mid-bass forward sounding for the non-audio-folk talk). I spend the bulk of my time at home with headphones on listening to music or playing games, so a good sounding and comfortable set up is worth it to me. Also I do a lot of research into equipment I buy, I'm fully expecting all my stuff to last the rest of my life time with a mild amount of care. Well except tubes, those do go bad from time to time. But everyone has their own preferences on what things are worth. One of my instructors has a shoe fetish or something and will spend $200+ on shoes, while I don't think I have ever spent more than $100 on a pair of work boots. |
