to be honest, I doubt they're using any sort of complex systems to make it work. gravity would do most of it.

When investing in something already complex like this, you want to make the actual systems used as simple as possible, with just enough intricacy to make them look appealing.

Make it a tourist attraction as well. Charge people to tour it. I'd just be happy to break even on it. Not really concerned with profits as much as breaking even. As long as it's not a money hole.

I don't know how practical it would be for a living/working building with people in it. I can see it being practical for building it as a silo type just to grow vegetables.
With pot planters for tomato plants, you could hang rows to use up space then grow plants on each level.
The water collection system in that building idea a good idea but you still need to distribute the water on each level, even with solar power you probably have to design collection barrels on each level and have it water plants using gravity.

Hmm, watched more of it, wasn't quite as bad as my first impression.
I did notice one thing, she did say she needs to learn more about electricity, and she does, as if she did she'd realize that her laptop does indeed run off DC power, not AC and that she could power it directly if she had a proper adapter that would power it directly off DC (I guess it wouldn't technically be adapting, but I guess it could, as I'm assuming her boat is on 12v dc, and her laptop probably uses 18v dc.) and if made right, it would be more efficient than an inverter+ ac>dc adapter.

That totally reads different to me than I think what you meant.
I mean don't get me wrong, Edison was a fool for thinking all homes should have DC running to them, Tesla beat him on that one. But yeah almost everything is converted anyway. It's a shame too, as yeah there's standards for safety for those adapters, but they don't usually require too much efficiency as a standard. I guess there could be a way to monopolize on those facts, I'll have to think on that one.
