Random Thoughts.....What are you thinking?
I liked gear swaps in XI because it made gearing yourself much more interesting vs every other MMO I've played where you just have 3 or 4 stats that you want to stack to the sky.
Fenrir.Mariane said: » Gear swapping in FFXI never bothered me. What bothered (and still bothers me A TON) is how the game is PURPOSELY coded to make you lose the target when people "blink" due to gear swapping. That's STUPID and not needed. Programming wise, the fix should be just a simple change of how the client processes targets. A simple change on a few conditional checks. It works that way because some idiot at Square thought it was necessary that people lost targets when people change gears. Most likely reason of this is to cause stress between the healer and the tank (or at least force the two parties to interact about battle strategy). -_-; Or to make people miss a vital cure, wipe, and therefore prolonging the content for at least 1 more try! on that note,I'll leave you guys with this and go play some xbox D: YouTube Video Placeholder Quiznor said: » Or to make people miss a vital cure, wipe, and therefore prolonging the content for at least 1 more try! Well that was my point when I said "force interaction of healer and tank" ... :) Anyway it hurts them in the end as people will be discouraged and quit the game. Only hardcores have the patience to work through such artificial problems and achieve gameplay proficiency. I honestly don't think it's worth the hassle so I never bothered myself with the concerns related with endgame contents. I show up, do my thing and try to have fun. I believe I am the kind of player who keep the game afloat. The one in the crowd which is neither the noob or the pro. But still garbage design like that bothers people like me. Let's see how XIV handles this kind of design problems. ;) Ramuh.Urial said: » Some hardcore rain today. So much water on the road. What's Entry for Ina?
Also by gear swapping do you mean gear sets Kojo? Because you can't switch in battle
Fenrir.Sigfreid said: » Phoenix.Kojo said: » I am happy as hell that there doesn't seem to be much need for gear swaps, Though I have found that it IS possible, as others seem to imply it wasn't. Also, I posted a suggestion in a thread on the test forums, in a "what old FF stuff do you want to see added?" thread, what do you guys think? AnnaMolly said: Mystic Knight from FFV, thinking more like having skills such as Red Lotus Blade = Added Enfire, Seraph Blade = Added Enlight, Duskblade = Added Endark, etc. You get the idea. Maybe using Rapiers and Scimitar, much like but different than GLD's. Maybe their Class could be Fencer? Idk, but I loved the concept of Mystic Knight. EDIT: "Fencer's" second job could be Red Mage, RDM = Rapiers, Mystic Knight = Scimitar. I feel it'd add a Melee/Magic hybrid DD, and RDM would have melee-ish traits, and require CNJ and THM and be able to use their abilities. Bismarck.Dracondria said: » Also by gear swapping do you mean gear sets Kojo? Because you can't switch in battle I hope they add the vanity thing because some gear looks ridiculously bad together. Mismatched sets in XI at least looks decent but here it's like.. yuck lol. Green helmet with yellow pants and red gloves is not okay >.> At least you can dye stuff. Wondering if they might add the ability to dye dungeon gear, that would be kinda cool and make gear more individual.
Bismarck.Dracondria said: » Missmatched sets in XI at least looks decent i'm not so sure about this one lol. I've seen some butt *** ugly mismatches. Also, I'm not sure if it's a typo, but the start of the next beta test was announced this morning, the end...was not. So this could be an extended test session, who knows? Still much much better than XIV's ugly mess of early game gear lol

like GW2 or WoW does. Bismarck.Misao said: » maybe not vanity set, but you could make/replace one piece of armor (visually) with another, while remaining with one's stats? like GW2 or WoW does. That's exactly what the vanity thing would be but you wouldn't need to do it everytime you get a new piece of gear. oh. thought you meant, adding a slot for visual armor and hide the "stat" one.
on that note, i see they removed the underwear slots. If I had a piece of gear that looked cool and was super awesome I didn't have to choose between another piece of gear that was super awesome..I could use them both for certain things.
Dude, my rdm, whm and smn were hot. Marduk's pants and boots+ whm AF2 or yinyang robe was so frikken awesome looking... It was quite 'amusing' need to look for someone to fix your underwear... lol That was one thing the game was quite serious about... You could only take your underwear out if you had another set for it to auto equip. So no ladybits would be ever left out at the four winds. Lest male birds fly away, as well. >.> Bismarck.Misao said: » ![]() I'd say: Clean your cartridge before you plug it in on your DS ... ;) for legacy, you just need to have a 1.0 acc ?
