Don't forget FF12. The gambit, or what ever that auto system in place was, made things so stupid easy that the final boss fight for me was putting my guys near the boss, going to make some food, look in on the fight to see my guys still alive at full health and fighting, making a drink and coming back to eat while watching them fight.
And there was still the occasional enemy that could throw your gambit-plan out of the window with a particularly nasty/well-timed attack.

Basically the intellectual input required for FF13 is significantly lower than previous editions.

You don't prepare against all it's status effects; you prepare for the ones that will most drastically affect your characters (silence on mages, disable on melee, etc) and just deal with the rest by removing them with your dedicated healer. And Malboros rarely appear until the last 1/3~1/4 of the game anyway, at which point you should have more than enough status-protecting gear to adequately prepare for them.

It was a worthy comedy show, but a pretty bad conference. :I
