Awww...You don't like caps or text talk? Just think about how teachers are going to feel in a decade when this is totally acceptable.
I'm used to people using Caps Lock when they're trying to make a point, not so much to just talk regular. Text talk is understandable if you're texting, since I know typing out everything on a little pad can get annoying. If you're typing on a forum or something where you can use an actual keyboard, that's just laziness. If those two are acceptable by teachers, I'll have to smack someone. I know we're getting closer to that, though.

the only things i'm fine with letting slip are capitalization, and a final period at the end of post. (also sometimes not using apostrophes for contractions)

I think they were just joking with me about the CD comment, but it does make me feel old(er). I shouldn't have popped in CDs, now I'm enjoying songs I used to like years ago when I should be sleeping instead.

You missed Laserdiscs? Oh man, those things were huge. I forgot about those until you mentioned them. My middle school science teacher used them to show us things. At least I think it was middle school, might have been early high school. Can't remember quite yet.

All I got is newish Thrice, Team Sleep, Thievery Corporation, Morcheeba and Massive Attack. Most of those are relative in terms of being melodic and sleepy in nature.

80s had the women with mohawks, Prince, and Boy George. I'm sure I'm missing more things but those are the first things I think of when I think of the 80s. You did miss some great things, even the lolsy things. Oh, and this:
