PM's office was bombed with at least 7 dead and then a man dressed as an officer went and shot up a youth camp I believe 10 dead there. Lots wounded and speculation was that it was a terrorist attack but no one knows for sure yet. I haven't been following for a few hours.

They got the shooter, but no word on anyone responsible for the bombing yet :/
As horrific as all of this is within such a short time span, they seem to be isolated incidents rather than one gigantic attack.

I like the lower background with the kitty-corner stripes better than the top background, simply because there's less distraction and you can focus more on the pictures. (Then again, I'm just easily distracted, really I am.) Also, my second-favorite color (after green) is gray, so I might be prejudiced just a bit. I'm curious why the 'Home' section on the upper part is highlighted? If it's the only link or destination, it seems odd to highlight it. If there were more links and 'Home' was where the viewer currently was, then I'd understand it better I think. But I think it's good design!

Ooh yeah, I do like the second one better. It's simple and clean, but still holds interest and gets information delivered. I like it!
