If presidential candidates were able to ask each voter why they didn't vote for them, would probably make them feel better too, if each time someone was rated down they made a post why they rated down the comment, I think ffxiah would turn a little ugly.

The rate down function is for when the amount of rage and butthurt within you cannot be expressed in words.
I do agree that removing ratedowns would be a good thing.

Why specifically rate downs as opposed to rating all together? No reason to remove rate downs but keep rate ups.

Rated down. Reason: the - button is closer to the center of the screen.

Just to let everyone know, I do 99% of the screenshot approvals. Let me go over the typical screenshot approval process. I look at the submissions, ask myself... any porn? no. Click approve all. Items screenshots: delete any that are irrelevant then click approve all.
Not that sophisticated I know, it's mainly there to prevent someone from submitting a penis before I goto bed and wake up with 1000 emails from angry parents.

Hey scragg would it be possible to allow the creator of a thread to ban certain players from posting in the thread if they are clearly not contributing? :) That would be awesome man

Mods will generally listen to their case (although not necessarily agree) if the OP asks that someone be removed from their thread.
I think for now, that's good enough. I don't want the forums splintering into armed camps that pre-emptively topic ban everyone from rival cliques.
At that point, you might as well all go make private forums.

Like it or not, I've made just as many relevant posts as I have non relevant ones. I talked about the relation between TH and gil finder, posted a link to a useful thread in the matter, and confirmed update notes. Just because I'm not nice about it, doesn't mean you have to get butt hurt :(
