Been tested that the 80% previously thought to be haste cap is actually a 80% overall attack speed cap.
That being said, if you're well buffed, some DW gear does nothing for you but lowers your tp/hit.
Now by 80% cap, I don't mean you can grab 40% haste in gear/buffs and 40% DW and be capped
Let's use x2 200 delay katanas for example.
400 x .6 = 240 x .6 = 144, still far from the cap.
By 80%, I mean
400 x .2 = 80
So combined from sources of haste and DW, your delay will be minimally be 80 (when using 400 delay as our example), so adding any more haste or DW after totaling 80 delay does nothing.

I don't see how this changes much for a job like DNC. At 80+, I'll just shoot for 25% gear haste and have Suppa/Charis necklace. With capped haste samba merits, That totals 35% haste and 40% reduction from dual wield. If I'm recieving haste though, this means I'll just either Samba Dance or Drain Dance.
nin edit: changed charis feather to necklace.

This is my face not caring. I don't have a BRD following me casting haste songs on me. The only way I'd get it is either doing NM's or being at some sort of event. If I'm doing NM's then I'm probably tanking and in evasion mode. If I'm at Einherjar or some other event that needs BRD in every direction then I wouldn't be on DNC.

Because none of the other DDs need haste samba /trollface
If you're not using haste samba, there's no reason for you to even be there. Also, brds are best paired with dncs. So in a dnc brd DD pt, you'll have haste, haste samba, and double marches.

Well, I was speaking in a low man situation where I'm not really paired with other DD but you do make a good point.

I don't commonly find myself in situations were I'm reliably receiving haste and double march buffs. Hell, if I'm on THF in an event setting, I consider myself fortunate to have basic buffs (protect/shell) and timely healing. I'm usually stuck in the BLM party for those rare alliance-size events.
With BLM and THF (TH5+atma), my DNC doesn't see much event time. If anything, I'm out soloing on DNC, healing a party of DDs in the shortbus party/TE-farming group, or mainhealing a pickup abyssea exp alliance. In these situations, it's rare for me to get both haste and double march.
With that being said, I'll definitely set up new TP macros for THF and DNC which takes this new info into account.

DNC "loses" about 15% DPS and TP generation to this with full buffs. Knowing is nice since we can recoup the lost TP from Suppa and Charis Necklace, but it still sucks pretty hard.

The THF inside me kind of rejoices since I've been so mad and butthurt since DNC got amazing DW and we got shafted YET AGAIN but ugh.

Interesting find, Is the new info (As in, Ninja-nerf last update) or just info that's been there forever and no one bothered to test it?
Either way, Kinda sucks, hard for DNCs and NINs.
Wonder how this will impact Dual wield III @ 90 for some DDs? I know it won't change how much we get but i wonder what would be enough in the builds.

Some more testing was done in the thread as well. martial arts counts towards delay reduction cap, so w/ haste samba, mnk loses a minuscule 5%. Not bad when in comparison to nins and dncs, I suppose.
I think hundred fists gets ***, but I can't remember the last time I used that JA to begin with.

So does this mean that Suppa can be easily made up for now? At least on Ninja?

More proof that
1) dnc is fail (haste samba)
2) cor is fail (blitz roll)
3) brd is fail (2h usekess)
At this point is is clear that replacing COR or DNC with a DD is better so yeah. *** the last 5% haste.
I bet the next VU will see DMG on NIN/THF/MNK/PUP weapon drastically improve ...

The only use of DNC is haste samba, and the above showed that it fails to achieve it's purpose except for 5% haste which amounts for less than 20% of damage increase ; this is because a mnk with delay +51 weapon only requires 8% more haste to cap and nin/thf/mnk are likely to get more martial arts/DW traits next VU (probably only 5% away from cap).
edit : from cream soda, what I claim since forever
Quote: With hasso jobs getting to 78% haste and the new news on DW jobs, this makes dnc pretty much worthless across the board when it comes to zerging.
back to : real jobs.

Useless in the sense if you are getting haste samba, haste, 2x march, etc. If not, then the set is still useful.

All they need to do is put a 5%-10% haste atma to seal the deal.

Ok, 80% max delay reduction from all sources. Impacts:
10% DW (innate thf, blu)
Max usable haste: 78%
15% DW (any /nin)
Max usable haste: 76.5%
20% DW (/nin + suppa)
Max usable haste: 75%
30% DW (dnc)
Max usable haste: 71.5%
35% DW (nin, dnc+suppa)
Max usable haste: 69.5%
40% DW (nin+suppa, dnc+suppa+auric)
Max usable haste: 66.5%
45% DW (nin+suppa+AF body, dnc+suppa+auric+charis neck)
Max usable haste: 63.5%
50% DW (nin+suppa+AF body+Iga head)
Max usable haste: 60%
55% DW (nin+suppa+AF body+Iga head+Koga pants)
Max usable haste: 55.5%
Capped gear haste + Haste gives 40%. Double Marches pushes that to 62% (just past the cap for 50% DW nin).
Capped gear + Haste + Haste Samba gives 50%. Double Marches pushes that to 72% (capped for dnc with no DW gear).
Since external buffs can be considered static for a given setup, it's actually gear that needs to be adjusted to match that.
Given Haste + 2x March, you're generally good up to capped gear haste and 50% DW. So, no real limitations before you add in Haste Samba.
Given Haste + 2x March + Haste Samba, you can use 20% gear haste + 40% DW, 23% gear haste + 35% DW, or 25% gear haste + 30% DW.
For dnc, full Charis +2 gives 15% haste. Add Goading Belt to hit 20% and you can pick 2 out of 3 among: Suppa, Charis Necklace and Auric Dagger.
If using Swift + Rapp + Aurore hands to reach 25% haste then you don't want any additional DW gear.
For nin getting Haste Samba and the other buffs, they cap with 23% gear haste and no DW gear. Adding just Suppa means they cap at 20% gear haste (and they get 17% with the current Iga +2).

Hmm so 62% haste with increased bard skill at 85, I'm guessing even more at 99 ? We can expect 65% at 99 meaning a delay 51 H2H will be like ~3% away from cap and ZERO away from cap with 1 more MA trait...
