Connection Problems
So what can one do to fix? or is it a case of just wait for it to fix itself?
I favd the last thread with this issue a few months back
http://www.ffxiah.com/forum/topic/12503/connection-issues/ Might help I'm with aol ATM, have just signed unto virgin. It's only a problem with FFXI and FFXIV constant packet lock and R0 down to 94% then back again.
Tried multiple troubleshoot options and no luck. Looks like a server error on SEs side, especially considering the variety of error codes.
@Vinvv: Easily enough, just check current bandwidth allowance. Also, talktalk p2p throttle wouldnt cause connection issues with PoL and FFXI/XIV, it would simply slow the connection down. This MIGHT cause error code 4001 timeouts, but i've gotten errors 4001, 0395 (mail server connection error), 0006 (busy network/connection problems), 0260 (also network busy/connection problems) and 3103 (transmission error with lobby), among others which i didnt think to record at the time. If you decide to ring in to SE, they'll first try and place the blame on spyware and excessive cookies, which is not the issue. I even took the time to perform a full system purge to no avail. Will be contacting SE again when they open and see how things roll. sweet good stuff I spent 30mins on the phone to talk talk... friggin useless. they raising somethin their end. I'm getting the same error messages you mentioned above. I changed my up2p settin didnt help. I managed to zeon from mog house in port jueno outside to port jueno then got R-0 straight away. Best ive got so far.

I've had a couple of log ins where i've had a good 10 seconds of full connection, including zoning into mogs in al-zahbi. Sadly it isnt a sign of things improving cus things just got worse. well I do honestly hope its SE and they can fix... talk talk didnt even seem to have a clue you could play online games......
It seems very likely that it is SE, and if so they they are legally required to fix it. We pay for this service, and if they are responsible for our inability to use said paid service, then they are legally accountable. Getting them to admit/accept responsibility is the issue.
well although frustrating as it is I guess il be getting back some abyssea stones.... down to 9 or so so meh but still... id rather be crunchin some nms right now for some seals....

I was mid prep for leveling rdm 80-85 and really irked by this whole thing ha. Although true on the stones. Had completely emptied my supply so its SORTA a plus. all my jobs are lvld trying to get my last whm feet seal, so far i have the head, 7/8 on feet 7/8 on sam feet 8/8 on thf feet (just need the damn feet -.-) so I was looking forwards to completing some lol never mind I just hope i can log on tomorrow. Not been able to get into the game since, apart from managing to stay logged in for 10 secs a couple of times.
Was talking to someone on the Lodestone and he said: "I'm on the phone with Talk Talk now ... they swear blind there are no problems ... to be fair im on the internet, just weird that we are all having the sane problem and are all on talk talk" and then "They hung up on me... they told me the local box that i'm connected to was working fine and suggested that i look at the advanced settings to the game... basically passing the buck and then said they don't offer support for online games. When I said that I spent the entire evening yesterday looking at fixing the game, reinstalling and tonight I find people with the same problem all on talk talk and asked what he thinks i should do, he put me on hold and reset my service so that i couldn't leave negative feedback... lol" LadyKalika said: I'm on talktalk too and got kicked off FFXIV around 6pm yesterday as well. Well depending on how my contact goes with SE I'll be calling my service provider too. As many providers use the same exchanges it would be possible for there to be a fault in one or two connection boxes, causing a flux in connection. If this is the case, normal internet will work fine as it doesnt require a consistant connection, but games like ffxi/xiv do so the problems experienced could be explained. My advice would be to ring in again and record your conversation. If they again fail to perform their legal duty as far as tech support goes, you can do em. Should they cut you off you would also have proof of their activity and would probs find demanding a conversation with the manager useful. They cant refuse legally, and if its recorded you can screw em if they do. I had a aol engineer come out and look at my net for me, they put me on a different profile but to no avail. My net is fine as are downloads and every game I play online barring xi and cub. Looks like a SE problem now.
I seem to notice when I log on Playonline website some times the page takes AGES to load, refresh and boom loads in..... I think SE has touched something they shouldn't have..... and some how its talk talk related in some magical frustrating way -.-
At work for the next like 8 hrs so il try logging on tonight... I hope everyone else can get on before then. http://www.talktalkmembers.org/forums/showthread.php?t=53829 This issue has a new home on the talktalk forums. I hope they sort it for you all soon. (and I hope whatever is suddenly different to stimulate these new problems on talktalk doesn't find its way over to VM :S.)
It's not just TalkTalk though >.> AoL too... Whatever the case they should of noticed by now the problems I would imagine.
Unless you can actually propose the exact nature of the problem to the ISP I don't think they'd be as willing as they rightfully should be, as a paid service provider. to get on top of the problem.
From what I read in a ZAM forum a while back, somebody who clearly knew their technical ins and outs of connectivity told their ISP something along the lines of "This is the suspected problem. You won't confirm or deny it. I'll apply for freedom of information to find out for myself". Needless to say it did work lol. Although when there's a problem across ISPs for people in different locations it doesn't necessarily do well to have individuals taking this course of action. It's probably better accomplished by a representative individual or party... I play two instances on the same PC. Last month when there were R0 problems I would have one instance of FF 'red dotting' R0 and the other one would be perfectly fine.
On the instance that did not R0 I could see other linkshell members red dot at the same time my second character was. Problem @ SE end? I've been getting the odd R0 but like say 94% drop and then a recovery.
I mean I'm not good on computer science and internet technology but isn't there an element of shared reliance amongst some ISPs? I mean I know a lot of mobile phone networks rely on hardware from one prominent provider and I wondered if it was the same for internet access... I was with TalkTalk few months back and had the same issue for a few days until we crapped up their forums with a thread on the issue.. to which an admin or w/e done some network changes... after that it worked fine but the damage was already done imo, as i moved house a couple of weeks later I refused to pay TalkTalk anything and left, switched to BT now and apart from the odd DC once in a while i've had no real issues with them, but for those on TalkTalk i recommend trying Hotspot (VPN) and see if you can get on with that.
Flippin' TalkTalk!! Not only do they charge you a fortune to move house, take 6 weeks to install new broadband, never call you back etc etc but now they're blocking FFXI in some way?! GRRR! We haven't been able to get on either on PC or Xbox since Wednesday and 2 half hour phone calls solved nothing!
Feel the need to rant at them but someone has pointed out that posting on the thread Bloodbeat has given us will make it take longer! :( Shiva.Shinneh said: It's not just TalkTalk though >.> AoL too... Lol well I never knew ;A; Don't have to shout D: Stupid thing made me lag out of limbus on wednesday, just at the wrong moment while the other party engaged >.> So I was left outside all alone. I find it odd that it sorta sticks to a schedule of being a crappy connection lol Let's see if the useless people at TT sort this issue out again, now that a thread has been posted.

So people still not able to get online? im at work atm and I have this horrible feeling I wont be able to play when I get home in 5 hrs time.... which makes ME MAD!
Has anyone pointed out the old TalkTalk thread on the new one so that the mod's know its the same issue?
with regards to being online.... I am and havent had "connection" problems per sé, just random R0's at worst moment Sambb said: So people still not able to get online? im at work atm and I have this horrible feeling I wont be able to play when I get home in 5 hrs time.... which makes ME MAD! |
