Orb: On the Movements of the Earth
https://myanimelist.net/anime/52215/Chi_Chikyuu_no_Undou_ni_Tsuite

Really had low expectations because the synopsis wasn't fully grabbing me, but damn was I surprised.

Dandadan
https://myanimelist.net/anime/57334/Dandadan?q=dandandan&cat=anime

This was fun as hell too.

Both were coming out live on Netflix too which was surprising. Never thought I'd be going to Netflix to watch the current seasons anime, but no complaints from me

Dandadan was great! wish we had gotten a bit more but I can accept waiting for more if the execution stays at this level.

Kubo-san Wont Let me be Invisible

Ive just finished reading this.

At first I thought it would be some of those romance where the girl part tries to prank the boy part.

It turned out way more innocent than that.

Through the story, the main cast is around 15 to 17 year, naturally living the every japanese golden era of high school. This story is no exception replaying every single template story from high school romance anyone that read a lot manga knows.

This story dont add a whole lot to the overall archetype. If anything, maybe the main difference from other work in this genre is that the cast seems kinda more childish to their age. Also way more innocent than 99% of high school romances.

So, being that much innocent and childish, turns out things move in a slow peace, as they are basically kids, and are more worried in playing/adapting to their community than looking for love partners.

That makes the ride kinda straight and peacefully. No cliffhangers, no drama, no attempt to revert our expectations. From chapter 1 you expected one thing, and after 140+ chapters, it was delivered without any issue in the way.

To close this, i surely am not the target audience for this. Sometimes too childish, sometimes too much sugar. I never felt challenged in any moment. Still, it wasnt hard to reach the end. Far from being a memorable piece for an old dog like me, still not a bad read.

Alice in Borderland

This is a battle royale/survival games type of story.

Maybe this brings some new things to the table as it doesnt try to be entirely physical or entirely “intelligent”. Instead, it uses a rule that each game has its own category, from entirely physical to mind challenges.

As a story of this type, you can clearly see some moments that bullshits starts pilling, but overall, it maintained a good quality overall.

Unlike many stories, I think this one gets better half way to the end, probably mainly because the main protagonist has less time on screen, while other people starts their own arcs. Somehow I felt the side stories are higher quality than the main one because the protagonist isnt a really great character, too confused, too emotive.

By the end, the story becomes kinda philosophical, with existentialism themes, what I think manages to proper deliver a closure to the story.

Surprisingly, despite having a dark and pessimistic tone the entire serie, it ends with an optimistic message, so this is also a bonus point in my point.

Overall, I felt many different sensations throughout the story: some parts seemed too cliched, some parts seemed pure ***, other parts felt like forced, others were genuinely intelligent, other’s genuinely good, etc. but yeah, it manages to get me interested the entire story.

So, a well deserved 7.5/10.

Good read

Solo Leveling season 2 is pretty boss. First season was great and season 2 just dialed up the fight scenes. Still funny hearing Japanese VA speaking Korean names and locations.

So I know jack ***about Animes, its never been a style that attracted me though I have always respected the art form. And no denying that just something LotR and Peter Jackson connected is enough to get me to watch this now that its dropped on MAX.

Guess I'm curious to hear from those who have a long history with the style and input that's not as biased as mine on the raw quality of this from that aspect- trying to ignore storyline and casting to break down just the quality of production, and how it was made.

The animation is top notch, and in the traditional 2D style rather than the more common and cheaper 3D.

Story however..

As Ive decided to take easy and have no game to play currently, I marathoned two series.

Delivery Cinderella

Well, well...

This story is maybe a more hentai than ecchi, but less explicit than hentai. A story that stays in the middle manages to not achieve neither, it isnt a fap material and the ecchi scenes end up being only annoying.

That said, there wasnt a whole lot for this story to begin with. It is a story that glamourize prostitution, so you get the gist of it. There wasnt a bigger plot going on. Only episodes where the protagonist, who do this job for money, ofc, but also because she "is happy making her costumers happy".

There are some dramas here and there. It could be mildly interesting but again the sex scenes really gets in the way.

I started this thinking this was a short series (it has 3 volumes scanlated), but it is actually a 11 volumes series, and currently the scanlation is dropped (for a while already).

Maybe this story could evolve to something? We will never know.

2/10, mainly because the art can be interesting at certain points, probably it would get really good by the end.

The rest is disposable.

Taisho Wotome Otogibanashi

A hidden gem I found while browsing unread mangas.

This story can be categorized as historical, as it happens early 1900's.

The main protagonist is a boy from a wealthy family who had an accident where he lost his mother and the moviment of his dominant hand.

As a result, his father decided to give up on his disabled son and exiled him to one of the family houses in a small village.

After a couple of weeks alone and sinking in desperation, the boy was ready to give up on life when a small child knocks on his door telling she was bought by his father to be his future wife.

Then starts the story where the boy, with the help of his future child wife regains the strength to keep on living, and also to find happiness in life.

There is a couple of dramas in the way, new characters being introduced, new occurences that lead to the protagonists maturing and reaching their expected conclusion.

Yeah, probably there are two things that are bothersome in this story, one probably already noticed in the resume: the protagonist are too young (the boy with 17 and the girl with 14 at the beginning). I suppose this belongs to the reality of that time so it should be taken without the eyes of our current time.

The second thing is that, during the way, we are introduced with two of the protagonist sisters. Both of them shows, while subtle, but abnormal "liking", more subtly one is brocon, but more annoying the other is a "dadcon". Thankfully the dadcon sister subplot never gets anywhere.

Aside that, this story is heartwarming for the plot, interesting for picturing how the world was back in 1920 japan (no, it doesnt mention aspects of WW). I genuinely enjoyed from beginning to end.

JK x Teacher

Im quite happy to find two hidden gems back to back. This manga completely thrown out of the window all the expectations i had for it.

At first glance, this has lots of Prison School vibes. Probably the author used that as a reference.

Not only the vibes, but the art seems kinda derived from it too. And mainly, the sexual gags. This story doesnt try to be believable, and as such, it isnt shy to extrapolate the limits how a sexual joke can go, normally stretching near to complete obscene, but the goal is always to joke.

But despite always focusing the fun, it also knows to be serious, and half way it tells us a drama that ends up with a nice message.

Follow the story of a all girl high school chad teacher while interacting with 3 different and problematic girls: one that is too passionate and constantly get lost in her delusions (normally sexual delusion with her teacher), a tsundere girl that lives with trauma, and the glasses cold, calculist and with few screws lose girl. The teacher will need to deal with those chicks traumas while resisting the advances they do, as they progressively starts loving their teacher more and more.

The story is short, only 30 also short chapters. Maybe the author could go twice that, but he was careful with not introducing more characters aside the 4 main ones. He also explored the development of them and knew when to stop. Still, i wouldnt complain if he had more a couple of the fun chapters that were characteristic of the first half.

To conclude, the art is very nice. I really liked how all of those 4 characters were drswn.

I could go on about how I normally REALLY dislike Robert Kirkman's method of story-telling for television. However, I thought this episode was excellent.
