ok journal tells you where npc is on quest story with a dot on the screen. but for leve it just tell you camps which npc can only be in 2 spots in a camp so if you cant find them then you really shouldnt play it.
one npc at the main tent other is by crafting tent

Lakshmi.Hypnotizd said: VI = Epic
VII = Crap (yes crap, suck it)
VIII = Crap
IX = Good, back to FF's roots.
X = Excellant
X-2 = Crap
XI = Still playing, kinda.
XII = Decent.
XIII = I liked it, linear sure, but not crap.
XIV = Pretty, but so far.. crap. That's like your opinion guy.
So here's my opinions.
I: Hasn't aged well. Was fun then. PSP/GBA port is pretty good.
II: Interesting use of skill system. Hasn't aged well. Pickup the PSP port if you intend on playing this for your fist time. Only other english option are rom hacks.
III: Only played the DS port. Was kinda fun. Maybe stayed to true to it's NES origin.
IV: [II SNES US] *** yes you are awesome, GBA and NDS port are boss btw. My favorite of the SNES FINAL FANTASY.
MYSTIC QUEST: It had an... okay story, with a really weird... battle system... thing... ugh...
V: Starts out slow but eventually "*** yes you are awesome." Also probably my favorite leveling system.
VI: [III SNES US] MY BRAIN IS MELTING OH MY GOD *** YES. Probably the true "best" of the SNES FINAL FANTASY.
VII: Holy ***3D FINAL FANTASY. Despite the HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE fanbase this one spawned it's still pretty fun to replay even today.
VIII: I actually liked VIII a lot, but there's lots of people who think this game sucked ***.
IX: Probably my favorite Play Station 1 FINAL FANTASY. Really great game.
X: Outside of some weird voice acting from time to time this game had a lot of content and the story and cut scenes were top notch for it's time. Still one of my favorites and probably my favorite of the Play Station 2.
X-2: Honestly while the story was kinda weird I really enjoyed this. The job system was really fun.
XI: MMO time sink. Excellent story if you actually were one of the few to do quests/missions for reasons other than "RING RING RING, MINE MINE MINE" and read the text. I've had a great run with this MMO.
XII: Very fun but the story was kind of un-interesting for me personally from time to time. Very pretty. [Especially emulated at 1080p with anti-aliasing!]
XIII: I'm still not finished with this. I got to the "non-linear" part of the game only to find that I would have rather the whole game just stay linear with the whole cutscene > fight > cutscene > formula. The pacing just slows down it feels like. About 75% complete with all the subquests. I'll finish it one of these days.
XIV: MMO time sink. Hard to say. Can't really form much of an opinion for an incomplete game. I have many complaints and many things worry me about future design mechanics, otherwise it's very pretty. We will have to see what SE does with this one.
TACTICS: HOLY ***MY FACE IS MELTING YESSSSSS.
TACTICS ADVANCE: YESSSSSSS.
CRYSTAL CHRONICLES: Having static played the entire game with 3 other people with GBA links I can safely say that next to Metroid Prime this was my favorite game on the GCN.
CC DS1 and 2: Both very fun, especially if you have friends to play with with the local wifi.
These are all just my personal opinions.

I agree with these two. I really do like the exploration and battle part of 12 though, something I really missed in 13. Going out and hunting marks was fun too, the world they chose is a really good one for that kind of thing. I wouldn't hate the idea of having a small spinoff in Ivalice where you hunt marks, sort of like a Monster Hunter game. Not being able to freely explore like in previous games made 13 pretty dull though and I often paused it to do other things. The pop music didn't help much either.

Don't forget the people who are all 'OMFG Akeda! We're all waiting on you to finish your cut scene so we can do this battlefield. ... Yeah I have dyna soon I need to go.'
I really enjoyed the story in XI, and I was really getting into the whole WoTG storyline before I stopped playing.

Asura.Andevom said: So here's the gist I'm getting from the FFXIV defenders reading this:
1) I don't care what people say, I like the game and have fun with it. Reasons why, outside of "I spent $80 to play 8 days before everyone else (well, actually I know almost no one who bought the normal version of this game) and want to justify my purchase," have yet to be explained. And of course, I DO care what people say, because I will RAEGGGG at the overwhelming negativity spouted against this game.
2) FFXI is dated and has "atari graphics" (Seriously? This is the best insult you can give? Also, *** you, Atari is awesome), so lol to all of you who still play a game that actually works.
3) The graphics are pretty/best around, if you have a PC that can handle them and can sift through Lagfest 2010.
4) SE will fix all of the problems. Of course, there's no telling when or what they'll do exactly. Chances are the first batch of updates won't be enough to salvage this game. Hell, look how many updates it took to address a lot of problems in FFXI. But still, I have faith that they're going to make this game super awesome fantastic...in a few months.
I'll pass.
Have you played the game? Crafting is an engaging minigame, leves are like assault, the music is gorgeous, you can customize your character and job to no avail and the plot line is awesome. If you can get pass the shitty placeholder they installed as UI then the game's a blast.

I'm willing to bet most of the people who *** either A have a shitty connection or B a shitty PC. Thus all the "Lag" they get is on their end, in all honesty the amount of lag in XIV is extremely mimimal and I've had far worse in whitegate in XI than i have in XIV

I used my PC for FFXI for about three years before I made the switch over to the 360. It's a personal preference, not because I can't use my PC to play the game.

I've openly admitted that my gear sucks before. Gotta start somewhere before you can get the good stuff.

I'm fine with all of these things, but I just don't see them as much of a selling point to delve into this game. I can experience all that and more (outside of the better crafting) in FFXI without needing to start over.
The true reason you hate XIV has become apparent.

You don't like to start over with a new game? Have you ever played games before? With every game, you start over...so I really don't see how that point is valid. Also, with FFXIV, you start AT LAUNCH meaning you start around the same time as everyone else so you aren't at a disadvantage and years from now people can look at you and be like "Damn! He was playing since launch, he's a vet and its awesome!"
Lastly, the battle system is pretty cool. It is definitely not as strategic as FFXI, but at the same time, you can't just run into a group of mobs with your sword, slashing at everything in your path. There are many reasons why I like FFXIV over FFXI (one being I got banned from FFXI but eh) Most of them are small things that just really make the game stand out for me. I don't mind starting over because hey, I've been starting over for 19 years.

The game is not strategic as FFXI because no one ever uses the battle regiments, or the braking parts of the mob, or attacking from different angles, it will probably pick up there after a while, took people a while to learn and use skillchains and magic burst.
I did have a group though that we did battle regiments, it was fun, had to coordinate on vent though because of the chat scrolling to fast, that def needs fix or add more tabs.

There are different stories and features in each game, but it is still the same game. So how can someone say they don't like starting over in the same thing as far as FF, but can do so in COD?
