I personally sometimes add letters to some of the words in all honesty to make them sound better. Bastok sounds HELP I AM TRAPPED IN 2006 PLEASE SEND A TIME MACHINE if you say it normal imo, when I'm talking to people don't play I say "Bast-oak" instead of Bast-tok. Ghelsba Outpot = Orc Land obv :) lulz Gelsh-ba outpost D: I just realized there's no H in that and I've been pronouncing it with an H for years! D'oh ;;
I always pronounced Sephiroth with a silent H even after I found out it didn't work that way.

D: Carbuncle.Ahlyana said: It's obvious SE uses hints of real life languages when they named things, therefore it seems reasonable to assume to pronounce these names using their appropriate language origin, which can generally be determined just by sight. For example Beadeaux would be French, the armor Kampfbrust is German.. etc etc. Some aren't as easy to determine, so for English we tend to pronounce the word based on it's Consonants and Vowels, and their placement within the word. Kaede's name for example in English would be pronounced: KAYD, not Kay-dee. Jeuno would be Joo-no, not Jeh-u-no. However the Japanese follow a very different set of rules when it comes to pronouncing things. English sees the name "Ramuh" and says Rah-mah.. whereas the JP would say, Ray-moo, or Rah-moo. Ifrit is another good example, EN: If-rit, JP: eef-reet. It would seem clear to me that the term: Abyssea is a conjoining of two words, Abyss and Sea. Since no word in the English language has 3 "S"s in a row in it, we are to say this as one word that uses both words. Abyss-sea, Abys-see. Whereas in JP they might very well pronounce the "a" at the end, however they'd also be inclined to pronounce the other vowels as well, making it "Abyss-eh-uh". I am NO EXPERT. I don't claim to be!! This is just how it makes sense in my head. lol I could be VERY WRONG. \o_o/ If Kaede is the NIN npc it's "Ka-eh-deh" not kay-dee.
