FFXIV + FFXI Rewards (deleted Char Help)

Putting this in FFXI section since it's more related to FFXI side of things.

Okay I need to figure out what I have to do exactly, I can't use my own account for the rewards because my account is linked with a friends and he's using it to get the rewards, but my wife had a FFXI char til a few days ago that she deleted..

Now I need to know if I could just buy a new content ID for now for 12.95 and link the accounts and get the reward, or if I need to recover her char, and if I do need to recover her char, how do I go about doing so?
