What are the chances of FFXIV sales being low until march because not many people will want/can afford to buy a new PC when they have one that works and probably runs FFXI fine, and can just get a PS3 for around $200 instead of a new PC for $700++? It kinda makes more sense to wait unless a person already has new/suitable PC or has the money to blow. As far as NA goes, I doubt many people have money to blow due to the economy. Think I'll just wait.

I'm seriously thinking about waiting for that very reason. Plus, I don't want to spend all that money on a new computer for a game that will probably still have bugs on release. It just won't be worth it to me to work so hard for a game that, if the Beta is any indication, is probably going to be frustrating in the beginning anyways.
But it really does look like a good game. It's just broken in so many ways :( I don't WANT to wait, I just feel like I don't have any other choice, at this rate.

Right. You COULD rebuild/add ***to your PC, but unless you KNOW what youre doing, you could ruin your PC, or, as Kal said, if you're not careful you could ruin the parts you buy, racking up more money than a PS3 would cost.. possibly, haven't checked on PSUs. Regardless, let's face it, some PCs that run fine still aren't worth doing that much to, who adds a bunch of pimped-out stuff to a Compaq that's just used to look at porn, watch youtube, and browse craigslist?

I think people are greatly over-estimating just how powerful a PC they need to run the game well, and have it look good.
I am quite shocked how well the game runs on my half-decade old hardware, right now my biggest bottleneck is my ancient Processor, a measly AMD Athlon X2 4200+. Still, the game runs admirably at What I'd define as C+ settings.

There's no option to turn it on or off, lol. I don't slow down, but the GPU really heats up when there's lots of swaying trees. Cranked the GTS250 to 85C, which scared me, but I did a little research, and the danger threshold is 105C, so I'm not too worried anymore.
The amount of detail in the game is just mind boggling, subtle touches like being able to sit in a chair, see your Belt and Neck pieces equipped, and the sense of scale just bring the game's visuals together in a way that's rare for the best of Single player games. Now if they just hammer out the tech issues. XD
