My mother is so pumped, lol.
I'm happy as well, I just can't appreciate this as much as her because I never lived through heavy racism. (of course it's still around here and there)

Yay Obama!
He is the answer to RMT.

Mined ore to level smithing. Was a much more productive use of my time, rather than watching that joke.

Congrats the USA for something they did right please. It's bad enough that some people here think Bush was a good president.

I forget the orgin of this quote but it needs to be said:

"If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all."

Being cynical and bitter is no way to be productive in any way shape or form. If it bothers you so much, take a position in office and make change for yourself. But if you rather sit and play FFXI all day, please keep your negativity to yourself.

Most people sat down to watch his speach in the UK, this is a big moment in history! I'm proud of the American people and i'm more hopeful about the future now.

I don't see you also quoting the post right above yours. That post is equally negative, just directed towards a different person.

Couldn't have said it better myself. What we need is a president that isn't going to spend trillions of dollars from an already ailing economy and send us plunging into a socialist state. People must really be blind if they believe he is the answer to our problems. What a flame war this thread is going to be.

Obviously enough people disagreed to put him where he is. Nothing is going to change what has happened so best to just support him or protest publicaly when he does/doesnt do what you want him to...

That would be Thumper from Bambi, who starts out naive, calling Bambi's legs "kinda wobbly", but with the help of his mother, learns to be far more tolerant and kind to people.

I think the speech was just a buncha stuff he's already said in his numerous other speechs. Actions speak louder than words.

Was anyone else annoyed in the amount of time he used the word god in his speech?

I can't think of a single speech in America where God isn't mentioned throughout.

Would be interesting to see the result if it was only the people's vote that mattered. However, the Electoral College gets the final say, though the do base it off the Majority Vote...to a degree. :s

Voting is mostly a popularity contest really... Obama charmed the nation, McCain tossed everyone off with with his inability to articulate correctly, and his lack of confidence...and lack of seeming to know what he was even going to do. A ._.

Lots of people I know voted for Obama because McCain didn't seem confident, or even know what he would do if he became president. Then of course there's the people who didn't vote for McCain, because of Palin and her Wolf-killing program. ; ;

No, and Im Agnostic. Agnostic/Atheist people need to get the hell of their high horse. Nobody is going to force you to believe in God, let the people who do have their religion, and you enjoy yours.

The only thing more annoying than a Christian shoving God down your throat is an Atheist complaining everytime someone says God or Merry Christmas. Live and let live, people.

Isn't there supposed to be a separation between church and government though....I don't care what someone's beliefs are just don't try pushing one ideal on an entire nation remember not everyone believes in god...

It never ceases to amaze me how bitter mmo shut-ins continue to be. I would be interested to see how many of the disinters in this thread are Ron Paul Retards, but then again I don't care (I have yet to see one single Rontard that doesn't spew the same line of idealistic self serving pseudo intellectual BS). It was a good day for the country if only because it was the end of the last eight years. And if only for that reason I am happy to have witnessed the moment.

There is a Separation of Church and State but him believing in, and thanking God, isnt trying to push his belief on you. And don't forget, "But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven." He's not going to say, "There is no God" or pussyfoot around the word just to keep you happy when it's ultimately going to damn him.

Once again, Im Agnostic, but I was raised in a Catholic household with the rule that, "You can believe in anything you want to believe but you will respect that we believe in God."

Maybe it's just different upbringings, different personalities and views. But my mother raised us that just because you don't believe in or agree with something, don't cause a fuss about someone else doing it.

No, the constitution only states that the goverment shall not institue a national religion. This was a response the the Pilgrims leaving England b/c they were persicuted for following a different denomination that "The Church of England". There is no such thing as "seperation of church and state".

God is also the "English" word for "God".

Allah means God in Arabic, so on and so forth.

This country was founded on Christian beliefs, but with an openess to other religions so that in a way it would be a haven for those who are persecuted for their beliefs.

Obama is Christian, he is an American, therefore he has the right of Free Speech... So if you don't like him being loyal to his faith and his rights, that's your problem, which you should dictate to people who actually agree with you or even care. lol

There's an entertaining part during Religulous, the Bill Maher movie, where he discusses and quotes how the founding fathers felt that religion had no place in politics. I recommend it for both a laugh and a reference for continued research, especially the part about Thomas Jefferson creating a different version of the bible.

Anyone that uses anything staring Bill Mahr as a reference to any kind of research is a complete fool.

Word. The fact that obama can speak well, makes him 100% better then >bush. >bush never even got an idea across, and what do ya know, after 8 years the whole world is still confused as to what he was trying to accomplish.

To those who don't care about whats going on in the real world, seriously, why are you even making a comment?

To the religious topic. He can believe in what ever he wants to believe in. He did become president, and you didn't. Maybe you should think again about what you believe, or don't believe in. In short, his beliefs got him where he is today.
