They're supposedly incorporating some dramatic anti-bot/anti-rmt countermeasures into 3.0.

Servers are up! Logged back on after a few years (now my account is Veteran status woot woot) and everything seems to be intact. Now to explore the new features and figure out how to get rid of the VZ at the end of all my characters' names.

Should have a renaming ticket that you can use to rename your character and remove the VZ.

Cleared off old unwanted characters, down to just my Ranger. Tossed up between making a Templar or a Gladiator now.

I'm gonna be making a new Templar or Spiritmaster myself. Had 5 characters with a full set of Daevonian armor and 5 Daevonian weapons so I wanna make use of that lol.

If you havent yet, make sure you check out the Atreian Atlas. Complete specific tasks in-game and redeem in-game rewards! Includes rewards such as: Wings, Title, Godstone, manastones, dye, costume, and many more!

I started downloading this as well. What the heck right? I played it for a bit when it first came out, but I didn't stick with it and deleted it after a while. It'll be interesting to see how it's changed.

One thing I noticed I didn't like was that the purchasable emotes are one time use only and the pets have limited durations. "If you don't like it, don't buy it" will definitely apply for me there. If they expect the cash shop to support the game, they may want to make things like that permanent to appease people like me who are more on-the-fence about cash shops.

Emote Cards are one time use, but they permanently give you the emote listed on the card. Same with Title Cards. The 2 pairs of wings they sell on their are tradeable ingame as well.

Some of the pets have duration, others dont. Diabol pet is permanent, for example. They only have duration if its listed on the item.

I keep getting message about Elyos creation being locked on the server. I guess they're a bit more active in maintaining faction balance than WoW is. Or maybe it's just a way to prevent lag or server malfunctions.

I like the quest based leveling style a lot. They sure aren't shy about paying you currency for them. I guess that means you'll need a lot of money later? It's a pretty game, but runs smoothly. The controls aren't clunky and the animations are decent. My only issue is the mouse movement/camera control seems inverted from WoW. I'll have to see if I can adjust that.

I'll definitely be playing it when I'm not feeling in the FFXI mood. If I get into it, I'll throw them a bone at the cash store. Thanks again for clearing up my misunderstanding!

They like to keep it balanced, it is a very PVP oriented game after all. When the game was first released after beta, Asmodian creation was locked. EVERYONE rolled an Asmo at the start.

YOU WILL NEED A BUTTLOAD OF KINAH THE HIGHER LEVEL YOU GET. Freakin skills get expensive. I remember shelling out over a mil to learn my lv30 ranger skills.

You can adjust the camera controls I believe.

I'm Peppermint on Vaizel (Elyos), say hi if you want. If I don't answer, I'm probably afk at work or asleep; I like to leave the game on and check messages when I return if the server doesn't kick me for inactivity.

edit: aion site character lookup says I'm on Tiamat server now.

edit2: (Elyos). The people I originally started this game with wanted to play Asmodian for the glowy evil eyes, but I absolutely refused to because I couldn't stand the mangy look of the tail/back hair.

I started an Elyos Warrior on Kahrun named Camiie (I'm very original). Elyos was locked on Tiamat when I was trying to make my character. Not like I can't roll a character on there though. Could Tiamat become the unofficial FFXIAH AION server? lol It would be fitting.

I did adjust the camera to my liking. It was a very obvious check box under options. ><

was free so i decided to try it out, leveled to 10. Felt like a dumbed down but better GFX WoW. WoW being pretty much the same thing but enjoyable, vs aion didnt do ***for me(but only went to 10).

Just because I can't remember, and sorry if this was posted earlier in the thread, but Aion is free to play or PTP? I have a copy laying around from before and it'd be interesting to go back to on occasion, but no point in paying for a game I won't play much.

It's free to play. It's an okay game but it grows old quickly. The graphics are stunning, but there are few good people left. Kahrun is a server created a week ago, so if you wanna run around with other noobs and lowbies, it's a good place to start. Siel and Israphel are Elyos dominated, and Tiamat is Asmodian dominated so those factions will likely be more active on their respective servers.

I have Asmodian characters on Tiamat and Kahrun. I love the dark side... :p

Edit: I think they're trying to do some sort of faction balancing by locking character creation for some factions on certain servers. It's a ruse though. -.-

Much obliged, I may have to try it out again. I stopped around level 25 shortly after the game released (was in Beta prior to that). I'm hoping things have improved, I know my system has. There was just too much grinding and not enough ***-doing before.

FTFY, until yesterday Elyos creation was locked on Tiamat. Meaning there were tons more Elyos and they wanted to balance it out with more Asmodian creation on the server.

And yes, they do try to keep factions balanced by placing temporary faction creation locks on certain servers. At original game launch years ago, after day 1, Asmodians were locked on all servers for about 5 months due to the massive influx of people starting on Asmodian side...xD

Not entirely accurate on the times, but its close enough.

I've been playing Aion for years. Tiamat is a merge between Zikel, an Elyos dominated, but dead server (very small population) and Vaizel, the only Asmodian dominated server since the first merge. Vaizel had a much higher total population and Asmodians still control the server in terms of Abyss and ground forts. Elyos is locked on most servers because it is the more popular race. People enjoy being the 'good guys', even though in Aion, the Elyos are technically the bad guys. So, in terms of player count, Tiamat may have more people playing Elyos, however Asmodians are better organized and control forts.

Their attempts at balancing servers by locking certain factions is a ruse. The game won't ever be balanced.

Edit: Well, it might prevent another Zikel situation where the server was 90% Elyos and 10% Asmo.

Just started to play this game a week or so ago. So far, its extremely fun. Not sure if there is raiding or anything like that, just been doing a lot of quest and havent even read up about the story or anything in this game.

There are some raids, but the majority of the population focuses on PVP >.<

What server are you on? I still play daily for the most part.
