A trip to ffxiclopedia.org would have told you that there is no note that Thief's knife must be main hand only. The reason a majority of thiefs do it is because its got a high dmg rating and WS are only done with the main hand so you always weild a higher dmg weapon on the main hand and find a nice dmg/delay ratio off hand like Thief's and Sirocco. Plus 100% enwind on Sirocco is pure *** win.
