Rampart: VIT Or Enmity?

As I'm sure you guessed, I'm torn between stacking more VIT+ or Enmity+ for Rampart.

Would the extra Magic mitigation be more use than getting more hate from the JA?

Obviously, it depends on the mob among other things.

Aside from "does the mob cast spells or use magic based ws's", I don't really see what else it could depend on.

Well there's really no other reason to ask then, is there? If you're using it because you see a painful nuke-ga incoming, use VIT/Enmity mixed, otherwise use just enmity. Can't hurt to make two macros or make two Spellcast triggers.

Well it's not like it creates all that much emnity to begin with unless you hitting a few targets so that would be a factor to consider.

If you wanna be Pro make a macro for both.

I don't have space so i use:

AF Body, AF2 hands (no Koenig and these have vit and emnity) AF2 Head (as it helps rampart) Warwolf, Knightly mantle. (not sure knightly is a good choice lol)

With other gear think i get around +17 emnity but a vit boost. When i have time i will make a set for both to be honest.

I only really try and save rampart if im pld/war in dyna or I know mob spams magic. Normally i just use as an extra hate tool at the start of a fight to establish hate. It's enough to near nullify Temenous's Carby boss 2hr etc so so far seems fine.

^Pretty much. If you're using it simply to generate hate and spamming it on timer, feel free to macro enmity, won't make it significantly better but why not. Otherwise use a VIT macro.

Ramparts downfall is that it only produces VE, about 300 per person hit (so equal to a provoke if it hits everyone. i.e all that hate is gone after 30sec). That's not a whole lot for something on a 5min timer, even if you stack a lot of +enmity.
If I'm looking to spike hate, I pair rampart with sentinal, and sentinal already caps your enmity at +100, so adding more from gear won't do anything. That's why I prefer to have a single rampart macro based on max vit.

Make a macro for both. You won't find yourself using it for the magic shield very often, but there are a few occasions where it's a free hit, or keep your party from dying to an Astral Flow/-aga. Most of the Rampart gear I carry around gets used in other macros anyway so I only end up bringing an extra piece or two.

anyone know if vit is caped on rampart ?
i have macroed a +73 Vit on it but if cap a lower i can put some enmity + on it.
please help me out :)
