How Much Is Your Char Worth? (to You)

lol what does playing on a 360 have to do with anything... people are the same level of *** no matter what system they are playing on.

Sold mine for $1300. It had about 50M on it w/ tons of rare/ex & access to everything.

No amount of money can bring back the time wasted playing this game

You could have just pushed the 50M in gil separately for $1300-1350 unless you sold it in that ridiculous price dip about a year ago. But all the uncertainty with the level updates are sponging the value pretty much out of everything at the moment.

My old account was worth ~3.5k, most of which was from the 30m gil, and 100m worth of gear i had.

I bet you spent more than $3,500 for 150 million gil. Bad investment.

protip: reselling currency is amazingly easy gil. A year ago i was averaging ~700k per day, and i had one or two days that i made over 10m in (*** yeah relic upgraders selling their 3k coins).

Protip: Buying gil is amazingly easy gil.

Reselling currency is even easier. It may be slower, but unless you're rich and have tons of money to throw away, it's still easier (press a macro every 5-10 mins, type some numbers into a calculator, run to rolanmart, put currency in bazaar, afk, repeat).

I'm sorry you were never able to make good gil, but that doesn't mean no one else can.

You attempt to create these fabricated stories and try to explain your addiction and don't even have the real facts straight.

By "old account" i mean the one i had from 03-09, that was banned (for talking about botting) late '09. The vast majority of the gil i had was made right around one year ago (starting from june or so last year, up to about 2 months after that, i made ~60m total, 50m from reselling currency, 10m from enm, isnm, and a few other things).

I'm sure there there's still people from midgard/levi who remember me always being in whitegate shouting for currency, 5-10 hours a day. Or hell, anyone playing on quetz right now who's ever been in wg will recognize me, because i'm always shouting for currency.

Whats the point on buying gil and botting, playing a game so you leave a program to do it for you? meh, some people are lazy, I've seen myself farming for hours and hours to no end for money, I've never resorted to botting, yet I love how players just LULZIBOTZ like it's nothing.

I never botted because um... actually I don't know why I didnt.. I guess I still loved the game. Now that I don't love the game I wouldn't hesitate to bot, but not on a 1k relic account, thats just asking to get banned. But since I vow to never play again no issue there. Im glad that your char means so much to you Darki, you still love this game and I envy that :)

Not just that, just trying to say he's attempting to explain his gil buying with a cover up and doesn't realize an account with 150 million some gil was never worth within the range of $3,500. Even in liquid form. He just looked at his credit card statements and added the balances up from IGE, ffxi-sale or w/e site he used and posted some arbitrary sum.

My point is that you're an idiot. The only gil i've ever bought was ~3m back in '04.

130m times $23 per mil (gil sold around $22-24 at the time i was banned) = $2990

$510 for a stripped char isn't really THAT much.

I'm sorry, I'll be a bit more clear.

1. Gil back in 2004 was about $200 for every g1,000,000. So that means you spent $600 "one time", although any smart person on any XI forum wouldn't believe you; purchased gil only once, back in 2004. People either spend a large amount on gil over and over again, or they spend a small amount "once".

2. Even if you purchased gil only once, 3 million gil in 2004 is pretty ridiculous. Anyone with a sensible grasp with XI's economy and leveling evolution / timeline would know that. Advanced US players have just started reaching 75 and slowly developing to strong endgame players. What were you doing purchasing 3 million gil "one time" when there was nothing you could buy or sell for that much for one sub 75 character?

3. Currency only reached 3k from LSs around end of 07/08. In 2006 g100,000,000 was worth $100USD. In 2007, g100,000,000 was worth $2,500. Gil sellers would only pay 23-40% of what current market gil prices were. So in your fictional scenario of making 100+ million in gil in a few days and having your character worth $3,500USD is nonsense.

4. You're just another idiot who buys gil, uses a current trend, of investing in game ancient currency, to explain your bad habit without any solid background information before tossing out huge gil numbers and uneducated real life currency equivalencies.

5. You're not the only person that keeps a spreadsheet of particular items in game. I'm sure 90% of all players do.

Not to sound overly mushy but I could never sell my character, I put so much time and effort into what he is today. Camping NMs, exp parties, saving the world (in more than one time period) on a daily basis, even getting KO'd has shaped who Billroy is and has in a way given him somewhat of a soul in my opinion. He is beyond monetary value to me.
