Here's how I practiced in SSB, and SSBB.

First, vs 1 computer, and put its level at a level you're going to have a challenge beating. I believe you said you had troubles with a lv7 CPU. Well, start at Lv6, or Lv7, until you can beat them with no problems. Then just keep going a higher level until you can beat level 9 a couple of times with no problem.

Second, now put in 2 computers at a certain level, and be able to beat them in a free for all. Basically repeat the process for step one. And do the same with a 4man free-for-all.

Now, do teams. Make it a 2v1, and repeat the same processes above. Then make it 3v1, doing the same.

I would probably do 3 stocks for 1v1, 5 for 3-4man free for all, and lower it to 3 as you get better. Then for teams start out as 5-7 stocks as 2v1, and lower as you get better. Then do about 10-15 stocks for 3v1. Lower as you get better.

Just practice practice and practice!
