i got magnetic cause i have blu and blm, and conserve mp its precious when doing spells for more than 100+mp.
I think your choice goes toward if you got more jobs that can use it (specialy blm). Im lvling rdm currently and i think ill use my magnetic when im high enough.

LOL

What's the proc rate on the Conserve MP, anyway? Asking for the sake of asking. >_>

For the earring 5%. For the job trait 25%

Basically +1 Conserve mp is +1% proc. When it does proc cost of the spell will be reduced to n/16 * (original cost), rounded down, where n is an integer ranging from 8 to 15. All possible values of n have an approximately equal chance to occur. Thus, each activation of Conserve MP save 28.125% of MP cost on average.

That means on average magnetic will save you 1.4%ish mp. I know it doesn't sound like much and it isn't. But as I am usually on rdm and often borderline on balancing mp usage/gain it becomes rather noticable. Like last couple of days I've been running out of mp where before I wouldn't kind of thing. Granted I still got convert but it does kinda bug me.

I do rdm/blu. Though my general goal in doing so is to take pretty much 0 dmg even with stoneskin up. Or at least very little. Definitely not 34+ a hit

Ethereal only worth really for PLD and some DD/mage jobs, but even then as PLD/NIN you shouldn't get hit, Suppa/brutal will give you more atonement for hate. As for RDM magnetic wins hands down for soloing purposes, specially if you are planning to complete a conserve MP set or a spell interruption down set.

If you really want the attack from ethereal just get an Aesir earring from Odin prime, better and easier to get.

You -will- take damage when tanking though. Maybe not from single hits, but most mobs have AoE damage moves or spells, and some have moves that simply bypass shadows.

Brutal's usefulness with a Joyeuse is significantly lower to boot, though of course one could simply put the Ethereal in builds other than TP/idle as well.

why all the spell interruption gear talk about rdm ya it would be cool to not get interrupted, but if your doing it right interruption is'nt a issue, my choice ethereal. Altho Hollow is pretty good. Magnetic Earring yawn.

If spell interruption isn't an issue then you aren't getting hit. Which makes ethereal even more horribad

Ya, but there is still ***like ga3/4's and tp move's that will wipe shadows/break stoneskin.

It does happen though it shouldn't happen often or things get ugly. But do you really want to chose an earring that's pretty much only purpose is to get you maybe 3-10 mp when you actually eat a ga3.

Or something that gives you a chance to save mp every single spell you cast? You can see what I chose the first time. And it helped alot. It is also useful when not tanking as well lol. Hell it's good on anything that uses mp.

That being said I switched to hollow mostly cause soon I'll be able to use acession as a rdm/sch. And well there were reports of it increasing drain samba. Which so far tested it seem untrue.

etherial's best use is drg/mage solo. hollow or assault earrings are better on pld's engaged-idle set paired with suppanomimi, outside of turtle builds.

there should really be no argument here, magnetic's almost always going to be better for mp unless you're face tanking. if you're taking enough dmg tanking for etherial to pull ahead, I'd say something is very wrong... lol

Sadly, equipment that increases spell effects like Hollow Earring or Stoneskin Gorget only effect the -wearer- recieving the effect. If you accession your enspells, the increased damage from the earring will not spread to other players.

If anything, that is more an arguement for Magnetic, as accession doubles the MP cost of spells.

I'm begining to think there are no more GMs and they just auto-respond with the same thing regardless of the complaint. At least that is what they have been doing to me

I got stuck in Jugner forest yesterday, they told me they couldn't give me hints or tips :S

I don't want hints or tips, I want to not be stuck in a log and unable to move.

I had to wait 3-4 hours for a friend to come on and D2 me.
