It was bound to happen. Right after the expansion, there's always an opportunity for certain items to shoot up in price. Days after, the craze dies down, and the prices drop back down to where they used to be. It's only natural, don't get so pissed.
You would be wise not to just sell these for the quick $1K on AH if you plan to take the craft up.
You'll find youself buying back more than what you made if you hit a spot where availability is low or NPC prices are higher from selling out the day before.
I just started leveling LC and this was my choice to use as a starter synth. I bought all mats except for the sheepskins. After about 18 synths total (15 success) I had already reached the lvl cap for this synth and MADE PROFIT! even with buying everything I was able to make a profit after only synthing 1.5 stacks
Plus any that you don't sell you can use to make the leather vest armor set and continue your skill ups.
