I've heard this is actually a rare drop from mandragoras in cirdas caverns.

Just got one from planting a 4-leaf mandragora bud in my mog garden. Can in turn be planted in a furrow itself. Takes 20 hours to harvest. A giant mandragora head can be seen when its ready to harvest, pretty creepy! Got a Dark Crystal, Saruta Orange, Cactus Stem and Jug of Spicy Broth.

Got this from garden today after planting a 4 leaf mandy bud and fertilizing it with a lightning crystal - had the mithra set to harvest lots of crops

I've also gotten these as drops in Cirdas of the Mandragoras there. (Had to kill a few doing the Weatherspoon Inquisition quest)

Definitely an amusing result when grown in a Mog Garden.
