Well worth picking up and keeping easily accessible for anyone who solos frequently with DRG. Going from a 0.5 damage modifier to 1.25 against skeletons (0.75 to 1.25 for corses) more than outweighs the lower DMG rating. Keep in mind, though, that weapon skills will still deal piercing damage, and that if soloing as /WHM you can cast Banish on skeletons/corses to raise the damage modifier to 1.
