Because the people who make it have to HQ and level 100 bone-craft synth. If you look at the NQ they actually lose 2/3 of their investment so by having it at this price is validates the work they put into their craft
32k for Synthesis materials, NQ NPCs for 11-12k. About 20k loss per NQ. 1-2% HQ rate means you'd NQ 99 on average for every 1 you HQ. So it's 2mil loss for every HQ. However, at 5mil on Garuda this is a profitable reminder of the fact that you need to have money to make money.
With both Bonecraft 100, Leathercraft 60 and Alchemy 0, I attempted to synth a Westkit after each level I obtained in Alchemy. As we know, you cannot attempt a synthesis unless you are within 15 levels. I could not attempt this synth with Alchemy 28 and could attempt at 29, therefore cap is 44.
There is no +2 INT = +1 MAB in the magic damage formula. INT is a direct +damage on top of the spell's base damage, while MAB is a multiplier after the INT calculations are made. Sometimes it ends up working out to be 2 INT = 1 MAB, depending on your gear and your target, but that is purely coincidence.
An imaginary Hume BLM/RDM with 72+45 INT, 32+18 MAB, max ice/thunder merits and neutral day/weather wears a NQ weskit and does 1315/1372 vs Puddings. Switches to RR with +4 MAB/Macc and does 1320/1377. Puts on a HQ weskit and does 1322/1381. Upgrades to Morrigan's and does 1342/1400.
A lucky augment of +6 INT on the NQ Weskit brings them up to 1342/1400 (same as Morrigan's!). A lucky augment of +6 INT on the HQ brings them up to 1351/1408.
What's better changes depending on the target's INT and any magic damage modifier it might have (MDB, -MDT, etc.). Flans have 89 INT and take an extra 25% damage from magic.
Farm the Avatar Blood and the Bugard Tusk and you also make profit on NQ. If ppl think they get gil out of Crafts if they just buy ***, then they shouldnt craft. You can get a Shitload of Money out of crafting if you are willing to farm the Stuff you need by yourself. And maybe get some other Crafts too, to synth the items you need, if you cant farm them. Just be smart.
I think that at least some people are selling these, and a lot of other gear, to get rid of them. Given all the new gear coming out, people are afraid that they will be worth close to nothing soon.
I agree that some people are in error and think that teal is better. Regardless, some people are liquidating because of the big changes coming. Look at HQ staves. And not that it was probably out when you made your comment, but AF3 gear is just crazy. People getting rid of top gear to get some gil out of it seems to be paying off in at least some situations.
I just don't see that people are necessarily stupid for getting gil and settling for something that is not quite as good (but almost), especially when it won't be too long before there might be something way better. Then gear like this will be close to worthless. Of course, there is always a risk in trying to predict the market. Still, I think it is somewhat reasonable.
See i could understand the theory behind the high price, however, the NQ one here sells for a profit and not a loss. They Sell relatively fast and generally NPC'ing imho would be wrong at the pace thse sell here. Therefore i find it unjustified other than the fact that because it has a white box people believe they can charge expenentially. Im not saying this applies to all servers, but for Bismark this is ery true.....
