I've said it multiple times. "DRK will get the love it deserves." Well I'm finally making good on that promise!

I am so proud of this one. I feel like this is my best model so far. Not just in terms of size and detail, but I'm getting pretty proficient at designing things to be printed and assembled.

This thing is absolutely massive. The handle is made from 5' of 1" DIA Schedule 40 PVC pipe. The blade measures 28" from tip to tip.

I will be including some detailed instructions on how to assemble it, but it's fairly simple. Also, I'm only offering this in black. I know this is a weapon that I would normally offer in gold, but due to having to print objects at different orientations, the gold color would not match properly. I'm always willing to help people out with tips and tricks for painting and I encourage everybody to try. I think painting these things is half the fun.

This thing takes 108 hours to print all the pieces, so I will do my best to get them out quickly, but if lots of people order it will quickly get some longer wait times. I will update anybody on the estimated wait and when theirs is on the printers.

I'm in the process of trying to make mini versions of all these weapons. Something desk or shelf sized.

Been very impressed with your work, and holding on to the minor details of each weapon that make them so memorable. Little things- like the taped handle on Apoc and slight bow to it....bravo.

Everything is made from scratch. I only reference a screenshot of the item when designing it. I use Solidworks to CAD model everything, only because that's what I use for work and I'm good at it. There is certainly much better programs out there for this kind of thing, but I don't know how to use them yet.

wow, I see
I'm fresh off of a CAD course, and I still have solidworks imprinted in my brain, I know a couple friends who have their 3d printers

I'll tell ya after putting this Apoc together and how well it worked... Larger weapons don't seem like such a terrible idea now. I've really learned a lot doing all these. I've learned some tricks that can keep the print times and filament usage down while not sacrificing strength or quality.

Ukon would be awesome. I built an ukon when abyssea was first out and man was that weapon fun then.

There are lots of videos out there on painting 3D printed things. There really is no trick to it, you can use any paint you want. I also designed most of the surfaces on Apoc to be flat, so using a palm sander is very easy on this part. This is how I finished Apoc.
-A quick knock down with 80grit to remove the layer lines
-Smooth with 150grit and and apply some body filler over the joint where blade 1 and 2 meet.
-Sand body filler down with 80 > 150 > 320
-Spray filler primer. Then smooth with 320 > 600
-Mask and apply Design Master 14k Gold Metallic (best gold I've found)
-Let dry for 2 days, then mask off gold to apply Hammered Bronze paint

Yes sir. I just came back from a 6 month break tho. I'm over on Asura right now, but I've really been tempted to go back to Cerb. The only thing I love about Asura is how easy it is to make gil and how stocked the economy is.

Surely you must be joking. =P
I actually kind of like this idea, though I don't think there is a ton of demand for it. What's neat about this idea is I could make 1 design that would cover 5 weapons. Caustrum, all 3 signet staffs, and the beastmen one. Good suggestion.

Yagrush would be interesting. I just wonder if the gems would make it look like an eleventeen year old girl's back pack or not. There is a lot of gems on that weapon.
