Japanese fiscal year begins in April. Might have something to do with realigning for the new year or I'm full of it and should be ignored...

This month’s development cycle is one week shorter than most, so we’ve elected to focus on the above two tasks, meaning that the overall volume is on the light side. However, the story content is as voluminous as previous entries, so I’m confident you’ll be able to enjoy April’s update. The version update itself will also be landing a few days earlier than normal, so make sure to obtain your Ambuscade rewards and complete your monthly Records of Eminence objectives before the update lands.

Probably this.

They decided to take it easy this month after 2 or 3 consecultive "huge" updates, set the monthly target pretty low and already achieved it.

I feel like I have never heard SquareEnix mention "Golden Week" in the 18 years I've been dealing with them through Final Fantasy XI and said as much on another thread when this was mentioned there.

Only reason I can think of why they would do this is to have 5 weeks available next patch, or there is some issue they wanted to address and didn't want to wait maybe.

Which doesn't make any sense cause Golden Week is April 29th to May 5th this year.

If they are adding a new wardrobe they probably want the extra week for testing it i guess. they do have beta test teams in japan.
