And you are assuming that each account only bought 10 marbles, and all accounts bought marbles.

Disclaimer, I don't play either. haven't in years. But. You can get 16 free Mars orbs if you have a 16 character account. that's worth 50m. So.... It's kind of dumb not to play. Think of all the stupid ***you would be willing to do for 50m. Yeah, buying lotto tickets guaranteed to win 50m is a no brainer.
In simpler terms. every character that plays, gets 3m just for playing. Why wouldn't you play.
You're not buying lottery tickets. You're paying real money for an account and they are giving you virtual orbs (money) in return. More pay to win mechanics at work
I mean, if you're buying NEW accounts. Yes. If you're ALREADY paying for mules, you're just passing up free money. You're already getting your P2W from "log in campaign" (50 glavoid shells for $15 ain't a bad deal! *** that guy)((when empyrean items are up, currently they are not))

Regardless, it does appear that they could afford more than the crappy 2 devs they give us. Operating costs are next to nothing besides manpower.

Any level can enter, if they have an orb given to them.
You have to be 99 to make orbs out of vouchers. and get your free monthly.
