So still being relatively new to all the changes that have happened to this game since 2014, I am really curious to what augments people hope to get and on what gear during these Dark Matter Campaigns. Sometimes it is overwhelming having all the content to pour over, and I get the impression that gear from this event can be really good. The last time this campaign came around I noticed Refresh, and Treasure Hunter can show up on gear, as well as +Weaponskill damage.

I am curious to know what item and augments combinations you are shooting for, and for what job you want that item for. So what are you guys/gals spamming Oseem for and what are you hoping to see?

I am still chasing any Refresh on Chironic pieces for my second char, and for +2 on Hands and Feet on my main character. One day I will be seeking better WSD augments on Valorous pieces but not for many years at this rate.

Herculean Legs
Magic Burst Bonus +10~15, MAB/MACC (whatever) so I can cap MBB in 3 slots on ninja, and drop the MBB1 Ring + Earring for something else

Herculean Feet, Hands, Body
WSD +7-10%

anyone else getting a metric *** of "Pet:" augments w/ dark matter? I swear so far at least 4/6 of every day has been something Pet. My Ranger is not amused.

But yeah, whole lotta pet: and BP damage augs on herc stuff here too

I got lucky with my WHM mule and 4/5 chironic pieces are now aug’d with refresh +2. WHM idling 16 refresh is awesome.

QA+3 for 2h jobs is usually the best. It is ok for 1h in some slots.

QA+3 for heavy armor jobs is probably bigger improvement than QA+3 for adhemar jobs I think.

If you play mage DD like rdm or brd DM is probably the only source for good tp sets. Although mage DD gets less use than real DD normally.

Wsd+7 to 10 is pretty godly for any wsd heavy job on slots that does not have wsd +10% +3.

Mab+45 or more is pretty good for cor in some slots.

I'm not a big fan of prioritize mage gear for refresh+2, with ballad it's nearly impossible to run out of mp and there's no reason not to get ballad if you have brd. Since I dont DD on mage I probably wouldn't use DM on mage gears.

So for multi job players priority probably goes to heavy armor > medium armor > mage gears for DM unless there's certain job preference.

BRD are rare as hell when trying to find via shout, and I'm on the most populous server.

a fan favorite for DM augs is people aiming to get TH+4 in gear so that you can have max TH for a non-THF job without subbing THF. I have a pair of merlinic crackows with TH+2 and a pair of Chironic hands also w/ TH+2 for my RDM when I'm solo.

As has been mentioned, another popular choice is "refresh+" idle gear.

After that, people typically shoot for crazy WS pieces (either high WSD or if a magical WS, high MAB plus WSD), and sometimes you get lucky with a great TP piece, but I don't know too many people who specifically hope for TP pieces.

Just a note only really -neeed- th+3 cause of chaac belt, now I guess there's the volte jeuno stuff which is also all jobs (th+1 he/ha/lg/ft +2 bd i think)

The general goals are:
(side note for rdm/sch chironic gear generally better base, but merlinic for magical pieces is availible for all jobs)

a.) TH +1~2 to cap th+4 total on non-thf jobs.

b.) 2 part
b-1)Refresh +2 for slots that only have max ref+1 in that slot normally
b-2) Refresh +1 if there's a ref+1 piece, BUT it's non-ilvl so this becomes a stronger option.

c.) WSD6~10 unique high wsd piece. Lower WSD values of 3~5 can still be useful for mage jobs.

d.) QA+3%

e.) magic burst dmg +15%. This is especially nice on like say Herculean gear

f.) Phalanx +
Taeon Phalanx+ cap is +3, DM can get +4&+5. Mainly useful on Herc and Chironic for RUN/RDM ect.
Herc stuff can be used for jobs like blu or cor going /rdm also.

note as RDM: chironic hands > merlinic cause base has skill+. Merlinic you could use on more jobs like blm99/rdm49 ect


g.) (lol)i guess BP delay on herc can be useful for cor/smn

edit: h.) shield block rate +
I'm not to familiar with pld but from my understanding in theory you can get enough shield+ in some slots for aeonic shield to win on pure phys stuff?

Why care about capping TH? What for that you can't just solo on THF (i.e. Salvage)?

There's lots of current stuff where Treasure Hunter has some impact, but you might not have a THF.

Dynamis-Divergence: More currency, if you don't have a THF main
Geas Fete: TH unlocks additional drop slot
Omen: extra scale slot on bosses

Hell, I'll even sometimes just be running around farming some trivial thing where there's little need to actually go change to THF, but tagging the mob with TH4 sure doesn't hurt to get the drop faster.

Even your salvage example... THF isn't necessarily the most efficient. I'd rather BLU and get quicker clears with AoE and tagging with TH4 than use a THF for more TH and slower clears. I mean, I'd personally rather avoid Salvage altogether, but if I decided to farm it...

When I need chapters 1-5, I just solo them on D with RDM/NIN for simplicity based on the jobs I have. I have a THF main, but I want some sleeps. Since I don't have a geared BLU, RDM/NIN gives me respectable dps with sleep capabilities, and because of my DM augs, TH4. Can mean an extra chapter or so per run, meaning fewer runs.

Some but the overwhelming majority are still non pet... yet to get any really good pet augs (or even 2 different pet augs that would be good together) during pet campaigns despite actually trying for it lol

If you play with a mule, TH augs are super nice for flexibility. Mule is always on WHM? Grab a chironic augment to go with your chaac belt and rarab hat+1, and you always have TH4 available.

A bit less practical on a flexible character, since you'd have to augment it for every job type you play.

Still not something I'll be chasing for a long time. I would prioritise having Refresh on Chironic head, hands and feet for WHM and SCH and getting WSD QA etc for SAM and WAR personally. I also have ***luck with DM augs.

Pool is pretty much the same on every item when doing DM which is part of the problem since you get a ton of things you'd never want while not getting some that only appear on specific stone/weapon combos that don't get in the DM pool

Valorous legs with +4DA +8 acc (7% DA total) - wish these had more acc and they might have been useful.

Odyssean hands with "Chance of successful block +8"; what does this even mean?
