I wanted to make a thread, with community input, compiling facts about FFXI battle based mechanics for newer players to use as a reference.
Starting out, let's separate the facts into categories:
Attacking - Weaponskills, melee, ranged, attack focused abilities, attacking buffs, etc.
Defensive - Damage taken, blocking, healing, defense focused abilities, defensive buffs, etc.
Pets - Pet attacks, PUP tank, BST tank, pets buffs, etc.
New categories can be added, if needed. Post your input below, and as they receive upvotes they will be moved to the corresponding category as a community accepted and important fact.
Attacking
The weaponskill damage bonus only applies to the first hit of a weaponskill
Defensive
Vivacious Pulse will restore MP if used with x3 Tenebrae runes
Pets
The first hit of a multi-hit blood pact receives +100 accuracy bonus
