Report Screenshot

Just following a recent thread about a screenshot being objectionable content. Is there some way to implement the Report Post to enable Report Screenshot?

This would probably just end up being more work for the mods though due to false reports as I'm sure is the case for Post Reports. One would hope that it would save some time though.

i think if one doesnt like it, they shouldnt look at it. lol pics tread has plenty of offensive screenshots, its drawing attention to the ones you dont like that gets people to talk about them more

I really don't get it, why would we have a report screenshot button since all screenshot needs to be approved before being publicly visible ? As for picture posted inside a message using [img][/img] just report the corresponding post, and mods/admin will do their work.

There's been a few times where a pic thats clearly not appropriate gets threw.
I'm not talking about the dog one.
Stuff like a girl coverd in interesting white stuff and a worm going inside in between her legs? =P

Still it doesn't make any sense. Better ask for admin/mods to check picture more carefully than doing

Admin/mods review > approval > offensive picture online > report > admin/mods 2nd review > picture removal... What a waste of time and efficiency.

Just :

Admin/mods takes 2 extra seconds per posted picture > approval. And if that's too long, assign someone to do this job. Not like FFXIah community is small, I'm sure someone here is willing to help.

I don't approve pics >.> It's not a feature I have. But I always talk with the admins and if it passes through, you can always tell me or PM them and they can remove it.

How does one know they don't like it if they don't look at it first?

Things will slip through QA and while giving Aly more work, which I know Aly really really wants >.>, might help it is hardly the only solution that could be put in place.

To counter-retort your own reasoning, if you don't like the report button then don't use it. I just figure if we're able to report all user-submitted content, why not screenshots as well?

You do realize the only thing I can do on this site is delete, move threads, unmain, and edit. that's it. If they gave me that thing to do, it's not like a big deal to me. I don't mind it and I'm sure alot wouldn't mind. Like when people report a post, I don't get the email or message of it.

Because that's the only content which is allowed to be published after approval. When something ain't working correctly, you fix the issue at the source and not after by patching it up with a report button.

You know what having a report button would mean actually ?

"I'll just check 100 screenshot/minute, I don't really care if some offensive screenshot are published, since people will have a shiny report button to report these, so I'll just have to deal with couple of reports tomorrow".

No it doesn't work that way, and admins ain't here 24/7, they need to sleep, and I suppose that FFXIah is "admin-less" at least several hours a day, meaning an offensive picture could get through and remain unmoderated for hours.

Solution : check more carefully before approval or just remove that approval system and only use a report button, just like any forum thread. Using both makes no sense. Not to mention that even if admins do mistake (well shitload of picture to check everyday, not really their fault), members are still free to PM them, and action will be taken.

I'd like to know the percentage of picture that admins had to remove "manually" after being approved. 0.05% ?

Does Report Post actually do anything or is it a feel good?

I'd be fine with you doing it as well. Personally I just wouldn't want it to take away from your time playing/enjoying the game.

I guess I'm just thinking about a procedure for future occurrences. If it's something that's simple and easily visible then people won't do things like make posts complaining about an image (we both know people won't use the search feature to look for what to do).

Side point is that people who are unfamiliar with the forums may not actually know who to PM.

Their names are kinda in bold red at the top of each forums beside servers-dedicated ones and crafter's crib (lol). But even if someone unfamiliar with forum do not know the procedure, I'm pretty sure that someone else will know and do it. Anyway people who report these kind of thing usually care about this website, meaning they know how to contact the admins :d

Report post actually sends a message to the admin of the post/thread its in.

You look at it, make a well thought out decision that you dont like it, and never look at it again. Maybe other people want to look at it and like it.

And I think we already have a rating function on Screenshots, but it's not really based on offensiveness....

If anything, I trust that the admin/mod who gets the report after someone fires the "Report Screenshot" button should be able to make the right judgments on whether or not the screenshot is actually offensive or not.
