So with all these new monsters and the confirmation from Camate about new spells for BLU, anybody have a hunch as to what they will add?

Personally I think they will add as normal spells:

Slice N' Dice (Twitherym)
Sylvan Slumber (Panopt)
Paralyzing Triad (Umbril)
Phototrophic Blessing (Leafkin)
Ancestral Banishment (Heartwings)

And for Unbridled Learning spells:

Batholithic Shell (Gabbrath)
Droning Whirlwind (Bztavian)
Tidal Guillotine (Rockfin)
Potted Plant (Yggdreant)
Sparkstorm (Waktza)

I highly doubt that they will add any of the Naakuul TP moves for BLU.

I don't see why? No reason not to give them one as a UL spell. Tidal guillotine sounds very unlikely/pointless. Going to proc on nothing beyond low EP mobs.

Pentapeck (Tulfaire) can potentially be a great physical spell should they give it to us

Ideally:

Yztarg: Calcifying Claw - High WSC and fTP with petrify. We don't have a petrify yet.

Twitherym: Slice 'n' Dice - Damage with a strong DoT, upgraded Disseverment

Chapuli: Nature's Meditation - Have it do the same thing as subbed meditate on a long recast, a 2~3/tic regain for 3~5m, or a potent store tp bonus.

Leafkin: Phototrophic Wrath - Attack Boost, Magic Attack Boost, and Enlight. I'd be fine with just getting the Enlight part, though.

Panopt: Crushing Gaze - Could use a stronger Slow and a more reliable Gravity, the ones we have are too weak, too annoying or expensive to apply to be useful.

Snapweeed: Tickling Tendrils - Another physical damage with stun. I don't want the other two for various reasons.

Acuex: Pestilent Plume - AoE magic damage, plague, blind, and mdef down. None of their attacks are particularly interesting so w/e.

Tulfaire: Pentapeck - Cheap piercing damage with additional effect of a short amnesia. Akin to Heavy Strike and Delta Thrust except with a higher D cap and hopefully better fTP with no stupid penalties.

Craklaw: Impenetrable Carapace - Stoneskin or something. We need a new one of those.

Matamata: Cranial Thrust - Change it to single target, give it a high fTP and WSC, and keep the max HP down debuff moderate. We haven't got one of these yet, so it'd be nice to have. Need some powerful physical spells now that our old ones are mostly ***.

Umbril: Paralyzing Triad - Moderate fTP and WSC with a moderately potent Paralyze effect. I want a useful paralyze.

Marolith: Metamorphic Blast - Another high fTP and WSC spell with a strong DoT pls. Two Disseverment-esque spells would be phenomenal, and it looks/sounds cool.

Melee Velkk: Velkkan Pygmachia - Moderate fTP and WSC and leave the dispel effect as it is. Would be somewhat useful sometimes.

Mage Velkk: Saurian Swamp - AoE earth damage, bind, and slow. We are sorely lacking earth based nukes, may as well give us this.

Meeble: Thrashing Assault - Single target high fTP and WSC attack with added effect of a reasonably potent DEF down, say 20~25%. Make it work, too.

UL:
Gabbrath: Batholithic Shell - Stoneskin, Blaze Spikes, and Haste. Yes please. Have the Stoneskin absorb about double what a normal stoneskin would absorb, moderately potent blaze spikes, and have the haste set at about 20% or something but last less time than wail. Can even get rid of the haste, I don't care.

Bztavian: Vespine Hurricane - AoE wind damage with a potent attack down and magic defense down attached.

Rockfin: Carcharian Verve - Potent attack and magic attack boost for 3~ mins. MDEF boost would just be a bonus.

I probably missed something, idk. Tree and Bird I doubt will even be considered at the moment, maybe next time. I doubt we'll get a spell from every single one of these, so if I had to choose the most important ones it'd be Paralyzing Triad, Metamorphic Blast, Slice 'n' Dice, Cranial Thrust, Phototrophic Wrath, and Pentapeck.

Any physical spells they add would have to have either really good skillchain properties (amorphic was obviously a weak closer for CDC, but Quad.Cont. is a solid closer for Req) or be cheap on MP. With the one-hand updated, I can't imagine SE giving BLU any solid damage spells that don't cost an arm and a leg to cast.

Why?

Because they tout "balance" with little to no understanding of what it means?

That doesn't mean it's a legitimate concern, but that's the way SE thinks.

I just hope they do -something- for BLU since it has a lot of potential to be an adaptable job to a lot of situations. I used to like doing the Blitzkrieg style of mashing physical spells over and over until the thing was dead, but now that I find out that my spells lack power in new content, I'm stuck to placing -only- spells that can buff or debuff, I never get to use my UL spells because let's be honest, we work so hard to obtain these spells like Absolute Terror, only to find out that it will not and can not work on a boss-type mob.

That's what -really- irks me, SE preaches on and on about balance in their game, but BLU has gotten the shaft and this teeder-todder has us stuck on the high end unable to do jack squat when we wanna play the jobs we want to play and stay relevant to end game.

UL spells should be allowed to bypass that whole boss nm thing, I mean on Tojil/Daku/Muying. They are considered the best spells in our arsenal since we have to have a JA active in order to cast one per like 5 minutes, but even then that's not good enough.

Pyric Bulwark only lasts for 1 hit? Shoot I'd rather have stoneskin on than that. The only UL spell I like using is Harden Shell because it is a nice little Defense Boost.
